Todoroki's Family

*Midoriya's POV*

Todoroki kun got really vicious with Kachan back there. I don't know what got into him. Kachan wasn't even being that mean. I guess Todoroki kun just isn't used to Kachan. I did appreciate it, though. I've never been brave enough to stand up to Kachan like that. Todoroki kun is so cool.

"So, Todoroki kun. I know that you have three siblings, but I don't know a lot about them."

"Well, my oldest brother Touya died, supposedly. My sister Fuyumi is almost like a mother figure in my family. My other brother Natsuo is really nice and cool. I could never really connect to them because my father kept me seperated from them as a child."

"Sorry about your brother."

"It's okay. What about your family?"

"My dad is never home, and my mom is the best mom I could ask for. Come to think of it, you didn't tell me a lot about your parents."

"You've heard of quirk marriages, right?"

"Yeah- when quirks started manifesting in people, people would start marrying people with powerful quirks in order to get a kid with a more powerful quirk."

"Exactly. My dad married my mom so then he could have a child that could surpass All Might, because he never could. It took him three tries, but he finally came up with me. So, he's been training me since I was young to be the number one hero. I was isolated from my siblings and he trained my half to death. Dealing with abuse from my dad, my mom had a lot of psychological damage. She couldn't take my left side anymore, she said it looked too much like my dad, and poured boiling hot water on my face. My dad sent her to a mental hospital, even though it's his fault she did that. That's why when I become a hero, I'll never use my left side in combat. By doing that, I'll be denying my dad everything."

"Todoroki kun..."

"It's fine."

"I didn't know that Endeavor is such a jerk."

"Yeah."

I turn to Todoroki kun and hug him. I guess it's my turn to make him feel better. It takes him a few seconds, but he hugs me back. His right side is colder than his left side, but it makes me feel safe. We pull away from each other.

What did I do? Is Todoroki kun uncomfortable? I hope he's not. I wasn't thinking . Todoroki kun said he needed to use the bathroom, and I wasn't thinking so I said, "We're close to my place, do you wanna go there?" and Todoroki kun said yes. Wait. I'm overthinking this. He said yes, so he's probably not uncomfortable. But, then again, he's gonna meet my mom. 

I don't understand how we've become so close in just two days. I would already not hesitate to say he's one of my closest friends. We already know so much about each other, it's almost scary. As we walk up to my place I grab my keys from my pocket. I unlock the door and open the door.

"Izuku? Are you home?" I hear my mom ask. I respond, "Yeah, but only for a few minutes. My friend needs to use the bathroom."

"Oh, okay."

"Sorry for the intrusion," Todoroki kun bows. 

"It's totally fine!" My mom says. "You're Todoroki kun, right? My son told me about you yesterday. I turn a little red. 

"Yes, I am," Todoroki kun responds.

"Okay! I can make tea while you guys are here."

"Okay, mom. I'll show Todoroki kun to the bathroom." I say.

"Thank you Midoriya," Todoroki says as I start to lead him to the bathroom. 

"Sorry, it's not a lot."

"That's okay, Midoriya."

He goes to the bathroom and I head back to my mom. I sit down and my mom says, "He's kind of cute!"

"Mom. I'm straight."

"Sure you are sweetie."

"Mom! I am!"

"Sure."

Just right then Todoroki kun walked in. I hope he didn't hear anything. 

"Tea's ready!" my mom announces. We drink the tea quickly, then head out. 

"Thanks mom!"

"Thanks Midoriya san." Todoroki kun says, too.

"You're welcome! Have fun!" my mom says as we leave. 

We walk out of my building, and I stop. I just thought of something. 

"Hey, Todoroki kun?"

"Yes, Midoriya?"

"Forgive me if I'm stepping out of line, but... have you gone to visit your mom since she burned you?"

"No..."

"Maybe you should go visit her?"

"No. The entire reason she's gone is because of me. I bet me seeing her would only bring her more pain."

"But.. you should face your past. And I don't think you would bring her pain! You said it yourself- your father drove your mom to do that."

"Midoriya... I- I... I don't think I can. I don't think that I'm strong enough."

"I believe in you Todoroki kun. You're definitely strong enough. And, if you need me to, I can come with you!"

"Really?"

"Of course!"

"Than... I'll do it. But, if she wants me to leave, I'll leave right away."

"Okay."

We stared at each other for a few seconds, then Todoroki chuckled. 

"What is it? Did I do something?" I exclaim.

"No, not at all! I just was thinking- you are probably the best friend I've ever had, and I've only known you for two days."

For some reason my heart drops a little bit. We're friends. Just friends. Wait, that's good! We're friends.

"Me too Todoroki kun!" and I smile.

*Todoroki POV*

Today is the day. I'm going to see my mom again. It's been a week since I've seen Midoriya. I don't know if I could do this without him. I'm standing outside of the hospital, waiting for Midoriya. I hear someone come up behind me. I turn around, and it's Midoriya smiling at me. He says, "You ready, Todoroki kun?"

"Yeah." I respond. After that we walk silently into the hospital. We check in. All the people look surprised to see someone visiting my mom, especially me. We head upstairs to the room they say she's in. I pause before opening the door, and look back at Midoriya. Midoriya smiles reassuringly, and I open the door.
