arousing one's curiosity or interest; fascinating.
Harry sat quietly in the darkness fiddling with his thumbs. Louis was fuming with anger and letting everything sink in as he paced around the small space the elevator provided.
"So you mean to tell me we're in here for 24 hours?!"
Harry nodded grimly responding, "Yes, and honestly I'm just glad we didn't die and this elevator didn't drop." Louis rolled his eyes and scoffed.
"You are like a poster child, aren't you Harry? If you hadn't followed me to this stupid elevator I wouldn't have to be stuck in here with you."
Harry stood up protesting, "Well if you hadn't parked in my spot then I wouldn't have to come up and talk to you." Harry was now standing up and leaned against the opposite side of the elevator.
"I can't believe you're blaming me for this."
Harry scoffed. "Are you joking? You've always hated me and you expect me to take the blame for this?"
Louis sighed to himself, "I never said I hated you. I dislike you."
"You know what? I'd rather die than be in this lift with you because you're selfish and conceited. You're not the king of the world, Louis." Harry spat at him, crossing his arms.
"I don't care because either way you are stuck in an elevator with me and either way we'll be stuck in here for probably 24 hours. According to you," Louis said sinking down to the floor.
"Well, I mean, I'm not exactly sure. Maybe we'll get rescued a lot earlier than expected. We've got to keep our hopes up." Harry spoke softly trying to reassure himself. The young boy kept close to the walls of the elevator. Hugging his legs, he rested his head on his knees and pouted his lips. Harry wanted more than ever for someone to find them and save them. He wanted more than ever to be as far away as possible from the older lad. But some part of him felt like staying and he's not sure why.
Harry found himself getting warmer and he shrugged off his sweater.
"Will you stop that monstrous humming? I'd like a bit of peace and quiet please." Louis retorted was an evident scowl in his voice. Harry didn't even realize he was humming and mumbled a quick apology to him.
It's not Harry's fault he's a music major. Harry was also a business and english major, but his sole interest was in music. Harry lived for music. In between his uni courses and social life, the young lad had always tried his best to make time for his music. He took solace in the beauty of the sounds of instruments. He even used his money from his savings account to buy himself proper studio equipment to set up in his flat. He has yet to produce a full track but he's working on a song. Harry has been completely buried under homework and essays and he's having trouble finding time to work on what he calls "independent study"; which is what he calls his music sessions to get out of social situations.
Harry bit his lip in nervousness. The thought of his music reminded him of his paper due tomorrow on the origins of music. He'd only written his introduction and he was planning on finishing it if he hadn't been in this predicament. Harry had been extremely studious and consistent with his homework and missing this one assignment would tarnish his perfect record in his professor's book.
"So how've you been?" Harry asked in desperate need of getting his mind off school. He cocked his eyebrows up hoping for a response.
"Are you speaking to me?" Louis laughed mockingly as if he were surprised.
"Yes," the younger lad replied softly and thoughtfully. Taken back, Louis took a deep breath.
"Well, considering the fact I'm trapped inside this elevator with you, out of all people, when I have things to do and places to be, I'm not fine right now." Louis paused before sighing to himself. He ran his fingers through his hair in distress.
"But I guess I'll get over it.."
Harry frowned to himself. He really did wonder what went on inside the older man's head. He wondered if Louis ever thought of apologizing to him or if Louis ever wanted to become friends with him again. He wondered that if he'd just put up with the noise that Louis created at night, would they still be friends? Harry sat still not wanting to discuss with Louis his thoughts.
Louis raked his teeth across his bottom lip trying his best to keep calm in this situation. Truthfully, he had no hatred towards Harry whatsoever. But he questioned himself as to why he felt the need to act like he did. Everything around Louis seemed to be going so fast and it was hard to keep up.
Louis just wanted to get out of that elevator before he ends up doing something he may regret...
