Chapter 2: The ride home

The rest of the day went by pretty normal until it was time for me to go home. I was waiting outside my brother's car because we usually went home together. As I was kicking some grass for waiting too long, I saw my brother and Nathan were walking toward me. Oh God, what was I suppose to do? Was I look decent enough? Did I have any dirt on me? Ah, they're getting closer.

"Hey, Star! I don't know you were waiting for us, sorry for making you wait. I hope you don't mind me tagging along with you to your house. Chris and I have some projects that needs to be done." Nathan said to me smiling genuinely.

"Hahaha, yeah some projects." Chris, my brother exclaimed and he unlocked the car for us to get in.

"Oh sure, I won't mind of course. You don't have to ask anymore. Our home is like your second home. You're welcomed every time." I said to Nathan while getting to the backseat of the car.

The ride home was filled with laughter, Nathan's and Chris' to be exact. I was just listening to their jokes and smiling along. I would steal glances to Nathan and hopefully he didn't realized it but deep down I know I wanted him to. I knew sometimes he was trying to include me in the conversation and tried to ask me school stuff but I knew it was all formalities. I felt a sting in my heart. I knew he saw me as his best friend's little sister, but it still hurts.

 Suddenly, It was like a lamp bulb switched on in my brain and I got an idea, well not really an idea because I already thought about it before. I was like a sudden reminder. I pulled my phone from my pocket and began typing a text for Amy to come over to my house with saying EMERGENCY!

When we reached our house, Nathan jumped out of the car and opened my door.

"Welcome home milady. You are by far the most beautiful girl in the planet." He said with a horrible british accent. He gave me his breath-taking smile and winked. I blushed immediately and laughed at his attempt. What is with guys and winking? Honestly! Stop it before I melt and disappeared with the wind.

"Well, thank you I must say to you handsome guy." I said to him while getting out and bowed like a lady stretching my t-shirt as I didn't wear a skirt.  

"Enough of the play, don't drag me into it! Come on Nate, we should start early or else we won't be ready for tonight."  Chris said as he locked the car.

"Wait a minute, what did you say about tonight, Chris?" I asked curiously.

"Nathan and I are going to a party. To be exact, Maddison's party." He said smirking to me while opening the door. FYI, Maddison was the newest queen bee after Ashley graduated. She was the cheer-captain with typical hot body, blonde hair, pretty face, not exactly a slut but could be a bit bitchy sometimes.

"A party? As in the first day of school? It's a school night. Did you asked mom?" I asked entering the house, going to the living room and Nathan followed behind.

"I was hoping you could cover me up, sis." He said giving me his best puppy eyes. He knew I never worked but did it anyway. I walked to the couch, sat on it and turned on the TV.

"Well, that comes with a price. What will I get?" I said crossing my arms in front of my chest, tried to look intimidating.

"A date with Nate? Wow that's rhyme!" he said fist-bumping Nathan. (if you guys don't know, Nate is shortened for Nathan. Only the close friend of his could call him that) I widened my eyes as soon as he said that. I punched Chris in the right arm. It was so embarrassing! He blew up everything! Now Nathan would think I was a freak. I covered my face with my palms, tried to hide the anger and blush that started to show.

"Hey, why would you say that? Is it even worth it for her? I'd love to do that for sure. It'd be fun!" Nathan said smiling at me. I blushed a litte... well a lot, it would definitely be worth it!

"Of course it would. Don't you know she got a-" before Chris could finish what he said, I covered his mouth so he wouldn't spill the secrets again.

"Well, I never experience a date before and umm I think it will be good for me to umm you know, like an experiment for sure. I mean, it'll be great!" I answered him before Chris could say anything else, I shot him a glare and smile to Nathan. Did my plan work? I looked cool, didn't I? Please someone say something...

"It's settled then. Are you free this Saturday?" Nathan asked smiling like a prince charming. I could die right away, well not exactly, I should go on a date with him first, and then maybe I could die being the happiest girl on planet.

"Of Course, we'll talk about that later, I think you should start making your project." I couldn't hold my scream any longer! I walked fast upstairs to my room and jumped to the bed screaming my heart out with pillow covering my face. I am so excited!
