A few days had passed... Cyra sat in her history class as her teacher droned on about the Second World War. "Pssssstttt", she heard from behind her. She slowly turned around after checking to make sure the teacher wouldn't notice. Luckily he was too invested in his lesson to even throw a glance in her direction. She saw Ruby making frantic hand actions at her. Cyra and Ruby had been friends since they were only 6 years old, so by this point she knew Ruby well enough to figure out what she was trying to say.Apparently, the guy next to Cyra was none other than the french exchange student. She looked at him properly for the first time. Turns out Ruby was right... he was actually really cute! He had a beautifully shaped face with a sharp jawline and deep brown eyes that felt warm and welcoming. His hair was a light brown colour which added a lot to his good looks. Suddenly, the bell rang and she turned back to Ruby quickly. "So, what do you think?", Ruby asked, the excitement apparent in her voice.
She'd been trying to get Cyra to confess about liking a guy for years now. But the simple truth was that Cyra had never seen anyone that way. "He's ok, I guess", she said nonchalantly. "Oh come on! Even you have to admit he's cute!!", Ruby said, raising her eyebrows at Cyra. "Ok yeah, he's cute!! So what!?", she snapped back. "Aaaaahhh!! You're getting all defensive. Did little Sy-Sy finally get her first crush?" "Oh lord Rube, didn't I ask you to never call me that again? Plus there's a difference between crushing on someone and thinking they're cute." "Hmph, ok. But just you wait, I'm sure you're going to develop a crush real soon.", Ruby said, giving Cyra a smirk.
Cyra shook her head as they parted ways when she entered her Algebra class. She stopped short as she walked in. There he was again... sitting right next to the only vacant seat. She made her way over and sat down. He glanced at her quickly and opened his mouth as if to say something. Thankfully, Cyra was saved by the teacher walking in and demanding for everyone to be quiet.
As the lesson continued, she noticed him looking her way a few times. She was just about to ask him to stop when the teacher announced a group project. Cyra groaned loudly. As a person who hated socialising, there was nothing worse than having to work with other people for a class. There is no way this could get worse, she thought, but lo and behold, she was teamed up with the teacher's pet, Henry, and... Mr. Mysterious himself.
