TWENTY-TWO; THINKING OF HOME

Rolling over in bed to answer the phone, Aurora lifts her sleeping boyfriend's arm off her chest, quietly getting up to answer the phone without waking him. "This is Hearst" her morning voice ringing out in the silent apartment, Spencer's soft snores still coming from her bedroom. "Hey Rory, it's Westbrook, sorry it's so early I forgot about time zones" recognizing her old supervisor from back home, checking the time on her phone at 3:04am, "not a problem, what's up?" she asks, rubbing her eyes trying to wake herself up. "We have a case that I need your help on, I think it might tie back to your parents Rory" The sleepy woman stands up straight, waking up instantly "talk to me" she urges, needing info right then and there "someone has been breaking into houses and murdering parents, leaving a single child survivor all over the country, looking into VICAP we have over 50 cases nationwide" Her breath gets caught in her throat, the flashing images spinning in a whirlwind around her mind. "Send the case files through to SSA Aaron Hotchner, the team will look over the case, we should be there as soon as possible." The sounds of her waking boyfriend distract her, "Rora? what are you doing up its 3am?" his husky voice manages, "shh one sec Spence" the small grunt that comes from him brings a small smile to her face "Spence? Ooo does our little Rory have a boyfriend" She singsongs, teasing her "oh shut up Westbrook, send those files to Hotch, I'll be in contact." She hangs up the phone and walks into her bedroom.

"Hey, Spence, we got to get up" His brows furrow sleepily "huh, why, do we have a case?" His eyes open a crack looking up at her, squinting "yeah... Its about my parents'' this time he actually wakes up, he sits up, eyes snapping open, he instinctively grabs her hand "tell me everything" He looks at her dead in the eyes, ready to take in all the information she was about to give him, "That was Madam Director Westbrook, my old supervisor from back home, she has just linked over 50 home invasion double homicides that have identical MO's to my parents, Spence, that son of a bitch leaves a survivor every time" tears spring to her eyes  just thinking about al the other people with the exact experience that she had, "She is sending the files to Hotch as we speak'' He nods pulling back the covers and pushing his glasses onto his face. He pulls her close to him, wiping a stray tear from her cheek "we're gonna find him Rora, I promise" she nods "I know" he smiles sadly and tentatively places a soft kiss on her lips, tasting the salt from her tears. "I love you spence '' she whispers, he almost didn't catch it, but his eyes spring up full of hope, she looks down in regret, not knowing why she had let the words slip out like that. "I love you too Rora'' he whispers back, tears choking up his words, she looks up at him in shock, the tears glisten in both of their eyes. their lips meet in the center, holding onto each other for dear life before they collapse into each other embrace, they knew that they would be the other's solace in this case.

It was 5:03am by the time the entire team sat in the round table room, drinking coffee out of old battered mugs. "I know it's early but we have quite the flight ahead of us, Early this morning, Madam Director Westbrook of the Australian FBI field office connected sixty-four home invasion homicides, going back twenty years that litter small towns all over Australia, they have no suspects and they need our help." The team met eye contact with furrowed brows, eyes flicking over to the brunette woman who was sitting at the table staring down into her coffee. "The victims are all lined up on the board here, this, excuse my French sir but it's appropriate, this sick son of a bitch leaves the only child as a survivor at every one of his crime scenes, so just know we'll have a lot of interviews to hold, this is why I will be coming along, cause of the time zones I won't be able to operate out of Quantico." Their eyes scan the faces that fill the evidence board in front of them "wait the Hearst's? Rory aren't they your....." Morgan cuts off, the distraught look on her face stopping him in his tracks.
