SYNOPSIS!
As a young, Miriam Halprin would take it upon herself to read every book in her grandmother's collection. Whether that be the life of Jane Austen's many characters or the dramatic tales written by Edgar Allen Poe, she loved them all.
When war struck, she kept herself busy in order to avoid hearing the constant crying, the screams of pain throughout the small town she lived in when wives received news of their dead husbands ⎯ an inescapable fate. It was the same way when her mother ripped open the sealed envelope on the couch with her and ended up tearing at graying hair when her tired, brown eyes skimmed over the second paragraph.
All she had known since then was pain and disappointment, even when she found herself in London working in Sabini's club in order to properly care of herself and her aging mother.
There, she meets Thomas Shelby. She would've fell in love with him, if it weren't for the fact that he reminded her of Icarus. The man with artificial wings who met his demise when he flew too close to the sun, falling into an ocean of despair and defeat.
She had read his story one too many times to know that it didn't have a happy ending ⎯ and maybe Tommy's didn't either.
