"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on."
-Robert Frost

I have always lived a stable existence in the knowledge that I was adopted. My parents didn't tell me that I was adopted until I was six, but I had sort of figured it out by then. I It's very easy for a small child to notice that she does not look like any of her family members. I mean, two parents with ginger curls and brown eyes don't spawn two ginger, brown-eyed kids and one with straight black hair and grey eyes. That just doesn't happen. It would be like two zebras giving birth to a koala, or something to that effect.

Well, let's just say that this koala was perfectly happy living with her zebra family. I had no interest in discovering where I was from or why I was put up for adoption. But I didn't know that one ordinary-ish Saturday would change all of this, and, once a remarkable discovery has been made, there's no going back.
