Was I In It?

Kevin and Arnold had started their mission 2 months ago. Everything was going well if we don't count that they didn't have any baptisms yet.

Kevin always wanted to be the mormon who changed all of mankind. But after 2 months in Uganda he found himself thinking about other stuff and less about the mission. To be clear he has been thinking about a certain someone. A certain elder. The one being the district leader elder McKinley.

Kevin had always thought himself to be straight. He had been taught that being gay is a sin and he never really gave it a second thought. Then he came to Uganda and he had started to have strange feelings for Connor.

Connor was out and everyone at district 9 knew he was gay. It was brave of him to come out so early on knowing that they had been taught otherwise.

"What're you thinking about, friend?" Kevin heard Arnold ask. They were laying in bed ready to go to sleep.
"Umm... Nothing important" Kevin answered.
"Oh come on. Is it elder McKinley again?" Arnold asked looking at Kevin with his puppy eyes.
Kevin sighed. "yes" he whispered.
"You need to talk to him. If you don't. You know what happens"
"Hell dreams" Kevin finished Arnold's sentence. "I know. But it's so hard to talk to him about... that stuff. He is the district leader"
"He is also gay. He will understand. And. We all know he has a crush on you"
Kevin turned to look at Arnold.
"I'm sorry what?"
Arnold laughed.
"Seriously? You haven't noticed how he always blushed when you're close to him? How he's always super nice when you're around"
"Well it's a bit hard for me to know what he's like when I'm not around"
"True. But believe me. That boy is in love with you".
Kevin laid back down on his back and stared at the ceiling smiling to himself. Could it be true? Was Arnold making things up? He couldn't be sure.
"Good night, elder" he whispered turning the light off.
"Good night, best friend" he heard Arnold whisper back.

Kevin woke up but he quickly noticed that the room was looking very different. It wasn't morning yet because it was still dark outside. Everything had a red tint to them. Arnold was nowhere to be seen. He got up from the bed and looked around. He went closer to the door and heard a knock. He jumped a bit and went to open the door. It was elder McKinley. What was he doing there?
"Oh. Hi Connor. What are you doing here? It's the middle of the night"  he asked.
"We need to talk" McKinley said and walked in to the room.
He wasn't wearing his mormon uniform. He was wearing a completely red outfit. Kevin thought it make him look pretty good.
"I know you have a crush on me. We all know" Connor said looking at Kevin. Kevin went silent.
"Oh. Um. Y-yeah. I guess I have... I heard y-you have a crush on me too" he said quietly.
"oh Kevin" Connor said and took a step closer to Kevin. Then another. And another. As he came closer Kevin felt his face heat up. Then Connor continued slowly. "Kevin. Kevin. Kevin... You know that mormons never lie. You also know that being gay is a sin. But." he stopped speaking when he was right in front of Kevin.
"We all know that some rules are meant to be broken" he finished and pressed his lips to Kevin's.
Kevin didn't know what to do. He didn't know what was happening. He had never kissed anyone before. He had never been kissed before.
Connor pushed Kevin against the wall not breaking the kiss.
After a while Connor pulled away still keeping his face close to Kevin's.
"Wake up" Kevin heard.
"W-what?" he asked. He heard the voice again.
"Kevin? Elder Price? Wake up!"

Kevin opened his eyes. He was in his bed. The lighting was back to normal. It was now bright outside. Standing next to him was 2 people. The other one was Arnold and the other was... Oh no.
"There we go. Good morning, elder" Connor said.
Kevin couldn't look at him. He quickly turned around and hid his face.
"We were worried about you. You were making weird noises" Arnold said. But why was Connor there? He sleeps in a different room.
"Were you having a nightmare?" Connor asked calmly.
Kevin didn't know what to answer.
But he had to say something.
"I-it was worse" he said. He tried not to be too obvious but apparently he failed.
"Oooooooh. You had the hell dream didn't you?" Connor said and walked to the other side of Kevin's bed so he could see his face.
"That's nothing to worry about. I have it nightly. I have one question though"
He got down on his knees so he could look Kevin in the eyes.
"Was I in it?" he asked resting his head on Kevin's mattress.
Kevin felt his face getting red and he hid his face again.
He heard Arnold leaving the room and closing the door. Now it was just him and Connor. So this was Arnold's plan. Of course.
"Oh come on Kevin. You can tell me. It's just me and you here"
Kevin sat up on his bed still wrapped in his blanket. Connor sat carefully next to him.
He put his hand on Kevin's shoulder.
Kevin knew he had to tell now or he would never do it.
"Yes" Kevin whispered.
"I'm sorry?" Connor asked.
"Yes. You were in it"
A smile came to Connor's face.
"There we go. Wasn't so hard to tell" he said softly.
Kevin looked at him.
"Y-you're not mad?"
"O m gosh, Kevin. Why would I be mad at you? I was in your hell dream and you know what? You are in mine as well"
Kevin froze.
"What?" he said so quietly Connor couldn't probably even hear.
"You are. Like every night. Every night when I have a hell dream. You are there" Connor explained. Kevin could feel a smile come to his face.
"Is it true? That you have a crush on me?" he asked.
Connor smiled and nodded.
"Yes. And it's good to know that the feeling is mutual"
"It sure is, Connor"
"Come on now you blanket burrito" Connor said and pulled Kevin into a tight hug.
This probably meant more hell dreams in the future but at least Kevin didn't have to hide his feelings anymore. Or try to hide them.
