I woke up the next day to find Honey already awake. She laid beside me with her eyes half closed, half open. "Aw," I said groggily as I sat up. Honey was startled for a moment before calming down. I picked her up and cradled her in my arms. "Thanks for protecting me all night. You can sleep all you want while I get ready".

I held Honey like a baby until she fell asleep. Carefully, I placed her back on the bed and slowly got out myself so I could prepare myself for the day. Holding Honey the way I did reminded me of my kids. And I missed them so very much. My heart ached as I walked into the bathroom to brush my teeth.

To present day 2020(I know the kids would be way grown by now but for this there still young). goes by so slow when you don't have your kids with you. Or the rest of your family. In 7 days, the anniversary of my supposed death would take place. Maybe I could visit the kids before that.

The media would be surrounding them, but we've found ways to get around that. I finished rinsing my mouth and nearly ran out of the bathroom before remembering Honey was getting his well-deserved sleep. My feet softly touched the floor as I went to the cabinet next to the bed, opened it, and pulled out my burned phone.
"Hello"? I whispered in the living room after I dialed Paris' cell.
"Hello"?

She replied, sounding tired as well. They must have been sleeping.
"Hey, baby", I said smiling. I could hear her shuffling on the other side, probably sitting up. "Daddy"! she squealed. I shushed her a bit because Honey hearing was incredible. "How are you and your brothers"? I asked. "We're doing okay, but we really miss you. Don't you think enough time has passed that you can come back and live with us"?
"Paris..." I started. "In secret, of course. Because faking your death is illegal or something, right"? "No, not exactly but I can still get in big trouble. Anyway, that's not what I called you for. I was wondering if you guys would want to come over". "Really"?! Paris said excitedly. "We finally get to see where you're staying"?! "Yeah", I chuckled at her excitement. I wish I could see that beautiful face through the phone. "I promised you guys that you would someday". "Yeah, but... whatever, I'm so happy! When can we come"? "Tomorrow would be great. Because after that I have to move again." My voice softened. "What"? Paris' did as well. "No, please don't." "I have to make sure I do something, Paris, okay? I want you guys to be safe. I want to be safe. Please don't cry," I could hear her sniffling on the other side. My heart was being squeezed in a vice and I had to look up to keep the tears from falling. "I understand," she sniffled. "I'll let Prince, know," "Okay, sweetheart," I smiled. She was strong for this. "Thank you".
"I love you, daddy". She sniffled again.  I let out a big sigh and gave the phone a slight hug. "I love you too, baby. I'll see you tomorrow".

I had to hang up the phone to make sure I didn't shed some tears. I looked out at the window. I hope my kids never go down the same road. Especially if they really know what I did for my boss and I was doing decades before I even had kids. But the industry isn't always what it seems to be. And I have a job to do make sure Aaliyah or "Akeira" this time is really out the picture.
But first, I should get the house ready for Prince, Paris.
