Libby POV
Somehow over the past few days Melissa had convinced me to go to the football game tonight. If I wanted to fit in and make this year go faster I had to join in. The only time I had seen Flynn or Brandon the rest of the week had been in a few classes, which I was pleased about after eavesdropping on their conversation. Melissa and Luke had briefly commented how it was strange for them not to be sitting with them at lunch and I had a small feeling it was something to do with me but I pushed it to the back of my mind.
I was standing by the front door putting my knee high boots on when my mum popped her head around the kitchen door
'Oh you going out?' She asked, since coming to London we hadn't spent much time as a family, we all sat together to have tea a few times this week but the atmosphere in the air felt awkward.
'Yeah there's a school football game on tonight' I replied
'I didn't think you were into football'
'Well there's not much else to do here' Once the words left my mouth, I instantly regretted them. I knew I was being rude but I was still mad for having to leave everything behind. Before things could get anymore awkward, I heard a loud car beep from outside and I knew it was for me. I give my mum a weak smile before silently leaving the house. Walking down the path, I saw Melissa's car outside my gate and she had a huge smile on her face. I hadn't passed my driving test yet but Melissa said she was happy to pick me up.
'Hey gurl, you ready for your first football game?' She asked the instant I got in the car. Over the last few days I had learn't Melissa constantly asks questions, not in a noisy way but she seems like she is generally interesting in knowing about my life.
There were so many cars already parked up at school. Once we were parked, we hopped out the car and started to make our way towards the stands. Melissa linked her arm through mine, which she had started doing this week, I don't think I'd ever let any of my friends do that before but Melissa did it as if it was a natural action.
This school clearly took football very seriously, they had hotdog stands, popcorn stands and every other food stall you could think off. The stands looked nearly full and there was still 10 minutes until the game kicked off. Melissa's arm went high in the air waving in the direction of the football pitch, Luke along with the rest of the team were warming up. At the side of the pitch were the cheerleaders and standing front and centre was chantelle
We continued walking up the stairs and that's when I noticed the two boys already seated. Melissa sat besides Brandon and greeted both him and Flynn, whilst I quietly sat down on the end. The three of them chatted among themselves whilst I took in my surroundings. It was obvious who was the home team and who was the away team as most people had the colours of the football team. I was suddenly taken out of my trance when a scream surrounded me, I then noticed Melissa was now standing up along with the majority of the crowd as both football teams came out from the tunnel. I noticed Flynn, in his leather jacket, had stayed seated the whole time, his phone in his hand and his cap pulled over his face so he could't even see the game.
The game only had ten minutes left and no one had yet to score. Melissa was still very motivational and shouting positive words towards the team however, I had slowly lost interest in the game, there is only so much popcorn you can eat.
'I need to go, my mum has been called into work urgently and I need to look after my brother' Melissa looked at me sadly
'Don't worry I can walk home or get the tube'
'No way, you don't know your way around, one of the guys will take you' Melissa announced the same time Brandon snorted
'Come on guys, I really need to go and you can't let a friend walk home on their own'
'She's no friend of mine' Brandon muttered a sly comment
'Fine but we need to go now, I have somewhere I need to be' Flynn's voice made everyone look at him in surprise. Even though Melissa had asked I think she doubted he would answer her. I said bye to Melissa and I followed after him through the car park. I wasn't sure if this was a good idea but I also didn't have any other way home. I heard the beep of a car unlocking and heard him open the drivers door, I looked up to see a sporty, very expensive looking, Aston Martin.
'No way I'm I getting in that' I crossed my arms and looked at the car. It did not look safe, it was so low to the ground and I can only image the sound it made, my parents would kill me if they heard that pull up outside the house
'Just get in the god damn car, I don't have time for this' He hissed and got in the car. I bent down to open the door and sat in the passenger seat pulling the seatbelt tightly across me. It smelt like a new car and was extremely clean. He hadn't even pulled away but you could hear how loud the engine was .
'So I live at...' I was about to give him my address when he interupted
'I know where you live' He casually said as he left the school car park
'Jesus is there anything you don't know about me'. I held onto the car handle as he zoomed through the London streets.
'So where you going after this?'There was no music on the car and I felt uncomfortable with how silent it was
'Is that some sort of invitation into your house' I felt my cheeks heat up as he chuckled besides me
'No...I...you said you had somewhere to go' I looked over to him for the first time, he looked so much older than any of the boys I had gone to school with before and I must admit he was one of the most attractive boys I have ever come across looks wise, personality wise not so much.
'It's none of your business' He snapped, a few minutes ago we had almost been joking
'Can I ask one more question?' I know I shouldn't have asked but there's a question that's been bugging me since we meet, he doesn't reply so I take that as a yes
'Why did you let me go a few days ago, after you know, I saw you...'
'We're here' He announced. I looked out the window to see we were outside my house. The journey had gone a lot faster than I had thought and I had actually survived it.
'Okay thanks' I said, at that point I knew he wasn't going to answer my question.
'Libby' I heard him shout, I turned to see the window down
'Wear those boots for our lunch tomorrow, Martino's at 12' Before I had the chance to answer he had wound the window up and had speed off.
I looked down at my boots, I had to pulled them from the back of my wardrobe but apparently they were a good idea. Was that his version of asking me on a date? my mind was spinning as I stepped into the house, all the lights were off so I'm hoping they didn't hear Flynn bringing me home.
