Brook went back out the window before I went down the stairs and as I opened the door I think my breathe caught in my throat, I couldn't breathe or think. The sight in front of me was breathtaking. He wore a black tight t-shirt and dark wash jeans. The t-shirt perfectly outlines his abs and biceps that would pop out when he crossed his arms.
"Amber...I brought you these." A bouquet of white daisies appear.
"Aww, thank you Cole"
My dad clears his throat.
"Oh uh-um Cole this is my dad and my mom"
"Sir, ma'am."
"Well, we won't keep you, but its nice to finally meet you, Cole. All we hear about is Cole this or Cole that. She never shuts up." My mom says..rather harsh if you ask me. Anyways...
Cole smiles and then takes my hand motioning for me to come. I give my mom the flowers and then turn around to start walking.
"11 o'clock sharp" my dad states.
"Yes, sir." With that they close the door and I focus my attention back to Cole.
"You look beautiful tonight"
"You don't look to bad yourself...so where are you taking me?"
He opens the door for me and then runs over to his side and climbs in.
"You know I won't tell you"
"Fine"
The car ride is silent besides the small hum from the radio. About 20 minutes later the local skating rink comes into view. Oh God! I haven't skated for over a year since he fell into a coma.
I am so lost in my thoughts that when Cole comes around to open my door I jump in my seat, he must catch on because he then asks, "are you okay? You look a bit pale."
"Oh, I'm fine I just haven't skated in a long time and am a bit nervous." Its true I haven't skated in a long time and I don't know if I will completely embarrass myself or if my long term memory will kick in, I pray to God it does.
He intertwines our fingers together locking them in place, my heart skips a bit from his touch also sending tingles through my arm. He opens the door to the building for me and as I step in I trip on the step and right before I face plant I feel strong hands wrap around my waist. My face is probably a shade of fresh red tomato but I try to ignore it.
"Thanks" but I doubt he heard it I could barely hear it and it came out of my mouth. We make our way to the counter to pay for the skates. The employee hands us two wristbands and Cole takes them, then grabs my wrist and puts it on me. Then they hand us our skates and we make our way to the rink.
"I used to come here all the time."
"Hmm. What made you stop?"
------------------------<><><>-------------------------My uncle jo pulled up in front of my house, I run down the stairs and out the door, yelling 'I'm leaving' to my parents before the door closes. I open the door to the front seat and lean over to give jo a hug.
"It's been a while. Gonna teach me any new techniques?"
"Hmm, I'll think about it, bambi." That was his nickname for me, has been since the day I was born. My uncle jo was in his late 20's and is actually a hockey player but he takes private classes with a coach for skating as well. He is my moms little brother and by far my most favorite uncle. He still acts like a teenager.
We drive to the skating rink talking about how his wife, olive, is gonna be having their baby next month and what I'm doing in school.
