The next morning I headed to the firehouse early to get some paperwork done and then I'm on a mission to get an engagement ring.

"You look happy today," Pete said walking into the office.

"I am after I finish them I'm off to find an engagement ring." I smile.

"No kidding those cookies went to your heart." He laughed.

"They must have. I got her dad's permission though but don't say nothing," I said.

"My lips are sealed," Pete said slapping me on the back.

An hour later I finish up the paperwork and head out to my truck. So I have no idea what kind of ring to get but I guess when I see it I will know.

I pull up at the jewelry store and blow out a breath of air and get out of the truck and walk-in.

"Hello, sir can I help you?" The older lady smiles.

"Sure I'm looking for an engagement ring." I smile.

She showed me a bunch of rings but when I saw the oval halo pave ring I knew that was the one. "That one!" I smiled at her.

"A man after my own heart. This shape is my favorite. Let's get you checked out." She said.

Once I got the ring I sit in the truck and looked at it. Now I gotta figure out how to do it.

I head home so I can hide it at my house so she can't find it. Levi walks in my room and I motion him over but hold my finger to my lips so Violet won't hear.

"Look what I got today," I said opening up the box.

"Shit Gray! You did good! When are you going to do it?" Levi asked.

"I'm not sure about that. I want it to be special though." I said.

"Maybe something on the beach or take her out to dinner and then a walk up the beach and do it," Levi said.

"I like that idea. I guess I'll put something together this weekend." I said hiding the ring in my drawer.

I'm going to jog down to the shop. I may see you later." I smile and head out the door.

I jog down to the shop and when I walk in it's busy with lots of customers in line for a cookie. I walk around the counter and speak to Joy and Hunter and head to the back to see Remi.

I walk in and find her with her hands in the dough. She looks up and smiles at me. "Hey there!"

"Hey, babe I jogged down here thought I would see how it was going," I said walking over to kiss her.

"You could help me make some cookies." She smiles at me.

"It would be my pleasure to help you out. What would you like me to do?" I ask her.

"Grab that bowl and mix this up with a spoon for me please." She said.

"So you didn't have to work long today?" She asked.

"Nah just an hour or two of paperwork and then I was done so I went home and changed," I said trying not to look guilty that I really went and bought a ring.

"Well, I'm glad you came to help me." She said wiping her forehead.

"So what is this flavor?" I ask her.

"Pistachio that's why it's green." She giggled.

"I don't know if I will like this flavor or not but I trust you." I laugh.

"You will like them I said putting my cookies in the oven. Maybe you will like the brownie cookie I just made." I smile at him.

"Oh now that I would eat." He said handing me the bowl he mixed up and I use the cookie cutter to make the shape and put them on a pan.

"Will you add those to the oven and they will be done in 15. Do you want a slushy? I'm thirsty." She asked.

"Sure I'll take a blue raspberry," I said sitting back down at the counter.

Isn't long she returns with our drinks and sits beside me.

"I missed you today," I said rubbing shoulders with her.

"You missed me? You weren't away that long from me. I didn't go nowhere just making cookies." She giggled.

The oven beeps before I can say anything and she goes over and pulls out both batches and places them in a container to take out front. "Take a pistachio cookie to try. We can split it." She smiles.

"You don't have to tell me twice." I grab one smiling.

Once she returns she sits back down and halves the cookie with me. "Honest opinion what do you think?" She asked.

"Wow its really good actually and I never would have guessed. Why don't you take a break and we go upstairs?" I asked.

"That sounds great let me just tell Joy." She said walking out the door and me right behind her. We head over to the door to upstairs and go in and I lock it behind us.

"I haven't even been in here since you guys brought the furniture." She said walking around looking.

"Well, we only brought a couch and a bed and a tv if you wanted to watch one and some toilet paper." I laugh.

I watch her go over to the couch and sit down so I join her and pull her into my arms. "I love you Remi."

"I love you too Gray. I feel exhausted I'm so tired and my feet are hurting." She said.

"Lay down on the couch and give me your feet I'll massage them," I said.

"Maybe at home I have other plans." She giggles.

"You do huh?" I ask her watching as she straddles me.

"You locked that door didn't, you Gray?" She asks.

"I did do that so now what?" I whisper to her biting at her lip.

"You are going to fuck my brains out on this couch and we are going to be quiet about it." She whispers before she leans in for another kiss.
