So we run and hide

For a verified little peace

We walked side by side, arms brushing lightly. My hands were stuffed in my coat and I could see your breath as you talked. In the dead of night, you were not cold; instead, a beacon of warmth and familiarity.

The party faded behind us; the lights grew dimmer and the music pushed us towards the garden. Dew flickered in the light of the moon.

We sat on the picnic table and I pulled my coat closer to my body. You folded your arms onto the table and rested your head, turning your head to look at me.

We been here before

And I can't ignore it anymore

"What do you think?" you asked.

"I think I adore you," I rested my head on your forearm.

A soft sigh left your lips and I could feel it on my face. I could see every line, every pore, every single eyelash on your face. The movement of your jaw as you smiled faintly. When you closed your eyes, I could see your pupils dilate as you opened them again, adjusting to the light.

I could smell your skin as I lazed on your arm. You smelt pure and natural, with the faint scent of wood.

I could feel your eyes look deeply into mine. Rich and exposed, I could see them verifying if my answer was the truth. I could feel the muscles constrict and relax under my cheek. The well-defined and powerful veins under your skin moving as it pumped your blood back to your heart.

You know the way it goes

How much longer then?

"There's only two women I love," you replied, and moved your head to look up at the stars, "one of them is you."

If that ain't just the truth

I am, I am, I am, I am

I like you, I like you

And that ain't nothing new
