Kace's Pov

I ran my fingers through my dark brown hair. Some people called it auburn but I just stuck with dark brown since it was simpler to say then auburn. Auburn was a funny word to me, didn't ever really make sense to me what the difference was between auburn and dark brown.
I shook my head, knowing I had to focus in class. I could not start failing college Algebra now. I had made it a few months into the semester with a B average so I was hoping that it wouldn't drop down to a C. The last thing I needed was to flunk this class and have to repeat it. It was hard enough now as it was but if I had to do it again then I would most certainly be more concerned about the money I was pouring into college.
I snapped out of it when I heard my name being called over the intercom. Unlike regular school where being called into the office could be good or bad news, being called into the office in college was always bad news. I wondered what I could have done as I gathered up my books, having no intention of returning to this hell hole of a class after I was done in the office. A little skipping never hurt anyone...well it never hurt me.
I walked out of class and slung my laptop bag over my shoulder. It was a lot easier to carry then I thought it would have been when I first started using it and it was a great thing to hide booze in when you were sneaking it into a club. No way was I paying for drinks if I could sneak in free booze. Sometimes I was caught but more often than not I was skipped over because who would pick on the buff guy with a laptop bag.
I would say that my muscles certainly helped with my intimidation. I worked hard for them, going to the gym enough to maintain them but not going too often because too much muscle was simply gross. I frowned as I came up to the principal's office and knocked on his door.
"Come in, come in," I heard the rough voice of the beloved school principal, Mr. Ross, say.
"Hey Mr. Ross, you wanted to see me?" I asked as I entered his office, my eyes falling upon a blonde-haired beauty. She was a beautiful woman, looking around my age and she looked soft. Her emerald green eyes fell upon me and I felt her eyes rake over me which sent a shiver through my body. Her hair was a natural blonde color, not any of that fake dyed stuff but just natural blonde hair. I found the height difference amusing, her at around 5'0 and me at 5'9, just a centimeter away from being six feet tall. I was snapped out of my observation when Mr. Ross spoke.
"Ms. Campbell meet Kace Watson. Mr. Watson, this is our newest student Ria Campbell," he said.
"Hello miss," I said as I smiled slightly at her. Her eyes raked down my figure before she smiled slightly.
"Hello," she replied evenly. "So he is the one who will be showing me around campus?" she asked.
"Yes," Mr. Ross said, making me look at him. "Oh you know you're way around campus and it would look good on you," he stated. I rolled my eyes but nodded as I looked at Ria.
"Follow me," I said, and she quietly followed me out of Mr. Ross' office. I waited for her to catch up to me so that we could make small talk, but when I stopped walking she didn't.
"Come," she said without looking back at me or slowing down. I'm a tall guy but even I had to take longer strides to meet her pace.
For someone who didn't know where she was going, she surely radiated confident energy.
I studied her figure before standing beside her and noticed she was fit too. Her small arms were toned and I wouldn't doubt she spent some good hours at the gym. I smiled because anyone that works out is a friend of mine by default. I just loved the gym too much.
I heard the short blond saying my name and she instantly had my attention. There was just something about her and the way she spoke that made me want to fully listen.
"I might not know my way around campus, but at least I know you shouldn't just stop walking in the middle of the hallway." She said and raised her eyebrow. She pointed to the small mass of people forming behind me. I stepped aside and let everyone through. I mumbled a sorry and everyone else either ignored me or huffed. One guy snickered about how I made him late for his lecture.
When I looked back I saw Ria had walked off again. I sighed and skipped over to her. I started to wonder who was giving the tour to who, because she was always ahead of me.
I nudged her side with my elbow to gain her attention. She didn't look happy about that but at least she slowed down a bit. "Do you always do that?" I asked because I wanted to know if she was just a supreme fast walker or if maybe she was avoiding me. Somehow I couldn't bear the thought of her not liking me.
She adjusted her backpack over her shoulder and went up some stairs and I followed her.
After a moment where she seemed to gather her thoughts, she looked at me and finally answered with an exciting sharp tone. "Do you always do that?"
I looked at her confused because she didn't answer my question and instead just copied it. I huffed as I walked two steps at the time. "Do what? I didn't do anything. Plus, you copied my question"
She sighed and rolled her eyes. She pointed with her entire hand at me as if I had to notice something big. " Do you always do that. Walk behind someone like a dog on a leash?"
I tried hard not to blush at the words and phrasing she used. I shaked my head trying to cool myself.
"Um, no. I didn't mean to walk behind like a—like a dog but what was I supposed to do if you keep walking so fast like you need to go to the bathroom?" She stared at me, making me feel like I had said something wrong. "Why are you walking so fast, do you need to use the bathroom, because they're right this hallway to the left..."
Her stare turned even sharper and I felt myself freeze. I didn't know how to explain it but this short girl had something else about her that slightly scared and interested me. Was it just me or did everyone that met her feel the same?
Even though I was drastically taller, I felt her talking down to me. "I don't need to use the bathroom, I need you to keep up and stop whining."
"I'm not—I wasn't—" I sighed. I clenched my fists as I looked down. I needed to stop the slight blush on my face from spreading.
She was still looking at me. Her emerald eyes were piercing right through making me feel vulnerable. And I liked it.
With some unknown courage, I managed to keep eye contact with the short beauty and asked the question that would later change everything. Her arms were crossed, her hair loosely tucked under her ears and some strands would dance to the airflow of closing and opening doors. Her small frame rested against one classroom's door frame and those green orbs manipulated me into getting closer to her until I could smell the scent of her perfume.
I sighed, hoping that Liam, Hazel, and the others didn't mind what I was about to do. I didn't let my nerves control me as I asked, "do you want to come to my place tonight?"
Though she wore her poker face I knew she was still somewhat shocked. If I didn't expect that request coming from myself, neither did she.
She opened her mouth and then closed it when I interrupted her. "—I have a party tonight, more like an-inner circle reunion we make every week. It would be nice if you hung out with us."
Ria looked a little pissed but at the same time, she had a smile on her face. "Are you done yet?" I nodded. "Okay. First of all, don't ever interrupt me like that ever again, you're not allowed to do such a thing." She leaned closer, making me shiver, "and secondly, send me the address and time. I'll be there."
She smiled and turned back with a swirl, entering the classroom then closed the door on my red face.
