"Hello? I'm calling t-"
"Yes sweetie, that would be StarMaker and Star Records number, save it." The woman interrupted. "What number is this, you're not from America are you?"
"Um, no" I state.
"Have you got a Visa?"
"Also no" I reply and I feel my heart shatter into a million pieces. There is silence and I sense hesitation from the other side of the hotline. "-but my aunt said shes getting my Visa made, she lives is Miami." I state.
"Oh honey we will see how we work this out but we will get you here real soon, in the meantime tell me, how does being in a girl group sound to you?"

We talked for a while and it became clear that a solo career was not something she had in store for me but I was willing to try everything. So I told her I'm in. A fee weeks went by and by and a miracle happened. We were going to America, Los Angeles.

                -----------------

"I actually dont mind it at all, I didnt think that I would get a room for myself but I did" Madison says over the phone. She is only allowed to call on Mondays, Wednessdays and Fridays but it took them a few weeks to get then all new phone chips.
"So how is Mexico?" I ask her.
"I honestly thought we would get sent somewhere extremely bizarre but we ended up in our neighbour's country, I guess it's fine, I have been here before but, just the border and with you." She states.
"I guess Mexico is pretty lame for the first Missionary trip but didjt you say that in a few months they'll send you some place else? I ask her.
"Pretty much." Is all she says.
I remember when Madison and I went to the border, Chetumal with her Step mother and we had the best time ever. Mexico is big and I know she will find herself enjoying it.
"

This Is insane though, Dhelmy! I mean L.A is where Hollywood is, inst it?" She asks overly excited.
Madison is my rock and my sister at heart.
"I am not getting my Hope's up because they could cancel at the last minute" I continue.
"Shut up, wheres the positivity you're known for woman?" She blurts and I laugh.
"Its pretty nice here actually," she continues, "I'm in merida with half of the missionaries." I smile at this.
"I hope you make memories as good as ours" I blurt out.
"I make no promises" she hisses.
"Ooops, I gotta go Dhel" she says and hangs up the phone.

Monday rolls around, the day of our travels, first we are to be at the airport at 6 AM for our 8 AM flight to Mexico. We live in Belize, Mexicos neighbor country. We arrive at Philip Goldson airport and sit by gate 12.
"Yes, I have everything, I have the tickets too." My mom blurts over the phone to my aunt Wylma as Khaylin and I sit there freezing cold. "I cant believe everything is paid for, like the hotel and all" Khaylin says with excitement, she is 2 years and 7 months younger than I am. I am 18 years old. She is the palest in the family, our family is a weird mixture of races. My mother is a light washed but still of color. My dad is definately not light washed, hes Maya. A burnt Maya or Coolie. A mixture again. I am definately nineteen, mid black maybe, a little darker than mid black, but my face in the cold appears light. Kind of like Khaylins. We board our flight a few hours later and we are on our way to Mexico.

                  --------------

I am awakened by the sound of the flight staff speaking.
"Prepare for landing."
My eyes wander through the window, I can see the buildings of a whole new world. The airport and how it becomes bigger and bigger.
"Please fasten your seatbelts" the voice continues. Until we are landing. I feel the wheels of the plane hit the runway and I feel jolts of electricity all the way to my fingertips. We are in Mexico!!
