Delilah's POV

Lunch time came around and I made my way to the library. I had so many questions to ask Luke. Like how he knew me, and why he was so nice to me?

I turned the corner and there was said boy leaning against the library doors. He turned when he heard my footsteps and smiled at me. I smiled back.

"Hey Delilah. Ready to head out?" I nodded my head and followed him out to the student parking lot.

He had a nice car. It was a red Chevy Camaro.

Luke ran ahead of me and opened the door for me. I thanked him as I got in. He then got into the drivers side and in no time, we were on our way to subway.

Luke's POV

I was excited and nervous to have Delilah in my car with me. I was caught off guard when she had asked me to have lunch with her, but it just seemed like the best opportunity to finally talk to her again. I missed our friendship even though at times I wish we had something more than a simple friendship.

We got to subway pretty quickly since there was one close to the school. I made sure to open her door for her just so she'd think I was a gentlemen and not a complete douche. I wouldn't want to make a bad impression on her.

Once we had our food picked up, we decided on a place to sit and started eating. It was quiet until Delilah broke the silence.

"So, I have some questions I wanted to ask you." I nodded for her to proceed.

"Well first of all, why are you so nice to me? I mean, I never noticed you at all." She wore a confused face that was really cute.

"Oh, well, you don't remember me, but I remember you. I already knew who you were so I don't see why I should be mean to you."

"Okay... That leads me to my next question, how do you know me?" I took a second to think of how I can explain this to her. Do I tell her how we were best friends? Will she even believe me?

"Well, I've known you since we were younger. We were really good friends you could say." She looked really confused. Her eyebrows scrunched up, and she looked like she was trying to remember something.

"Um... sorry, but I don't seem to remember you... I don't really remember my childhood. I just know what my grandparents tell me. They tell me stuff about my mother and how she died when my sister Grace was born. Also, how my dad left us when my mom found him cheating on her. She never mentioned you in my childhood though."

I looked at her for awhile. I was really confused now.

"Delilah... Your mom didn't die when Grace was born. I remember you and I used to play with Grace while our mother's talked with one another."

"That's impossible Luke. My mother was dead by that time." I didn't know how to respond to that. I know for a fact Delilah's mom was alive. I didn't even know she passed away. Maybe that's why her mom just magically disappeared that summer. But that doesn't explain why she would think her mother died giving birth to Grace.

"Delilah, what do you remember about your childhood?" She seemed to think for a while and then looked up to meet my eyes. All I saw in them was fear.

"I... I don't remember anything... at all. I just remember waking up in my bed one morning and Grace was there. She told me I had slipped and bumped my head. The thing was... I didn't recognize her. My grandma came in and she explained that I might have forgot a few things, but they filled in all the blanks. They told me who they were, and who everyone else were. They told me what happened to my parents. Also, parts of my childhood, not a lot though. Grace let me know some of my friends names, and things went on. Like I said though, they never mentioned you."

Now I was really confused. Could a slight bump in the head really make her forget that much?

When we got back to school, I tried to process everything Delilah had told me. As many times as I ran things through my mind, nothing she said added up. The end of the day came quickly and I looked everywhere for the one person who could answer all of my questions.

I saw her walking with some of my cheer friends and ran to catch up to her. I grabbed her by the elbow and pulled her back. She screamed out of fear, but when she saw it was me, she looked surprised and confused.

"Luke? What are you doing here?"

"Look I need to talk to you urgently." I gave her a pleading look.

"Luke I can't talk now. I have practice, but text me and we can figure out a time to talk okay?" I sighed but nodded. She gave me her number, and I saved it on my phone. I walked out of the school building and walked to my car. I got in and let out a frustrated sigh. Grace better have the answers I need.
