James:
I held Lily in my arms all night. That...that sounds weird. Lily - the Lily Evans - let me hold her all night long. I just comforted her. I needed to after what Snape...what he did. When she told me, I was overcome with anger. I felt like I was on fire, that I was so angry that I could have killed him. I swear, I could have. That insolent piece of shit does not deserve to walk on this Earth, not after he hurt Lily. I just...I cannot believe that he would actually do something like that.
It's mid-day now, and all of us except Pads and Marly are sitting in the Head's common room, beginning to plan out Padfoot's epic eighteenth birthday party. I told Marly this morning to take him away somewhere to distract him while I meet with the others to plan the party. "So, yes or no on the multicoloured streamers?" Moony asks. He is the one with the piece of parchment taking everything down. "Yes!" Mar says, and then we move on to the next (and most important) point of discussion - food! "So, what foods are we thinking?" I ask, and immediately Moony gets bombarded with random shouts for junk foods. Once we have a sufficient list written down (aka, one that is about a mile long) we start organizing the decorations. This doesn't take too long, and we're done quite quickly.
We are planning the party for a school night (Padfoot's birthday is on Monday 3rd November, and we thought that throwing it tonight would be too soon after the Halloween party) so we have to be careful about timings and silencing charms. It will still be awesome though! After we wrap up the party planning, we all just chill out and start chatting away. We have all decided to put on a brave face for Lils. I know that she is struggling - I saw it last night first hand, but I know that getting her to talk about it won't help. I just hope that she definitely knows that I will always, and I mean ALWAYS, be there for her. Until the very end.
The rest of the day passes pretty quickly, and before I know it I am heading up to bed. While I'm just laying there, waiting for sleep to come, I keep listening out for any sign that Lily is in distress, or might need comfort, but to my relief nothing comes, and I fall asleep at around midnight. As per usual, I dream about that beautiful girl who stole my heart, and I rest peacefully.
Monday 3rd November dawns bright and early, and I wake up with a good feeling about it. Oh, Padfoot is going to have the time of his life! He's really been looking forward to this one - probably just because it means that he's now a legal muggle as well as a legal wizard! "I'm going to hit ALL of the muggle clubs!" he said a month or two ago, and I really don't doubt that he will!
I get changed and showered quickly, and meet up with Lils in the Head's common room on our way down to breakfast. "So, tonight's going to be big, huh?" she says, and I chuckle. "Of course! It's going to be wild!" I reply, and she grins.
Lily has definitely gotten better over the last couple of days. That first day was...it was really hard on her. But yesterday, and now this morning, you can really see the light return to her eyes. That doesn't mean, however, that she is able to look at Snape. No, she just keeps her head down at meal times, refusing to look anywhere near the Slytherin table.
Today will be quite hard on her I think - you know, with classes starting back. If she has to be near him...it will be hard on her. Very hard. But I'll stay by her side if ever she needs me, and I know that the others will as well.
When we reach the Great Hall, I see all our friends but Padfoot all sitting at the Gryffindor table. Lily and I grin at them, and walk over. "So, everything's set then?" Moony whispers to me as I take the seat next to him. "Yep! This will be great!" I whisper back, very excited at what is about to go down.
Then, Moony nudges me and I look up from my bowl of Pixie Puffs which I literally just started eating. I see Padfoot saunter into the Great Hall, and our plans...begin!
