The whole week, Jasmine Sutton was relatively calm. A couple of times where the sudden realization that she was going out on a date with Brian shook her to the core. But when Friday came around, Jasmine tried her best to shake off the nerves that were forming. She focused on work and tried to maintain her head occupied so she wouldn't think about Brian and the date once again. JJ knew the date was approaching and was trying to tease her all day, but ended up giving it up when a shoe flew to his head, missing him by a couple of inches.

When her shift ended, Jasmine made her way to her apartment. She seemed to be spending less and less time there, most of the days of the week ending up crashing in Mia's bedroom. It was a fairly simple residence, as it was just her. A small bathroom connected to her bedroom and the kitchen. Simple but complete just for her.

It was almost seven when Jasmine sprung from her bed and to her closet, shoving heaps of clothes and shoes into a duffel bag before running to her bathroom to take her makeup and leave to go to the Toretto household.

The ride to the house was fast, but her mind was occupied with the thoughts of the blue-eyed, blond man she was about to go out with. Lately, Brian Earl Spilner seemed to cloud all her thoughts and it always made her giddy thinking about him. He was the perfect man, and that brought inevitable doubts to her mind, which she needs to bring up to Mia.

When she was finally in front of the house, her home, Jasmine was quick to get inside, shout a small hello to the people inside and ran up the stairs to Mia's room. With the sounds of footsteps running up the staircase, Mia closed her book and got ready to help her best friend get ready.

"You're late," Mia said, inspecting her nails.

Jasmine threw the duffel bag to the floor and sighed. "I know, I know. I said I'll be here at seven, but I got carried away at home." She flopped down on the bed and sighed deeply. Mia took notice of this action and sat closer to her.

"What's wrong, Jas?" Jasmine looked up and Mia saw her eyes were teary. "You're having second thoughts?"

Jasmine sighed again and whipped the tears from her eyes. "It's just... Brian is too perfect, you know?" Jasmine stopped to stand up and pace around the room. "There's gotta be something that is wrong with him because no one is this perfect."

Mia looked at her best friend with pity. "Maybe he's not perfect, and you're just seeing him that way because it's what you deserve after your last relationship?"

Jasmine shook her head in denial, she knew it was not that. after her relationship with Liam, Jasmine knew her worth and knew how she deserved to be treated. Her issue with Brian was deeper than that.

"No, Mi, it's not that. He's too good to be true, you know. Like those people you read about or are in the movies we used to watch. Brian is like the perfect man," Jasmine said, looking at Mia, "and maybe I'm paranoid or something, but I really don't want to find out he has this deep dark secret that could ruin it for me."

Mia furrowed her eyebrows. "Jazzy, do you like Brian?" The blue-eyed woman nodded in response. "That's all you need to know at this moment, you're getting to know him."

Jasmine shook her head once again. "Brian has been coming lately to the store with lunch, and we've talked a lot." This was the most important detail to Jasmine. "No one has ever gone to that extent for me, besides you of course, and it felt good being there with him. He's caring, he worries about me and my safety, he makes me laugh and makes me happy. That's why I think there's something wrong with him. No one can be this perfect."

Jasmine wasn't one that overthought too much when going out with someone, but Brian seemed to cloud her mind. He liked him, sure, but she feels that it won't last if she had doubts in him this early on their relationship.

"You need to calm down, and have a seat." Jasmine's eye twitched at Mia's words, not having time nor the mood to calm down and sit. "Brian treats you good. It's something no one has done in a long time because your exes have been horrible."

Horrible was an understatement. Liam Thorton was the worst of the worst, but the guy before him was an atrocity as well. Clayton Ronan was one of Jasmine's many mistake when she was a teenager and she wishes to forget he even exists. Jasmine was not lucky in the love department; she considers herself cursed. They either turn to be douchebags, irritating and clingy or just plain horrible to her. She deserved someone better; she knew that, Mia knew that, hell even Vince knew that.

"I think you're trying to sabotage something good in order to protect yourself from a broken heart." The words hit Jasmine like a truck. "You're not giving him the opportunity to prove himself, because Jas, what if that's just how it is? He's a good guy and you deserve someone like him."

Jasmine finally sat down besides Mia, placing her head on her shoulder. "Jazzy, don't give up just yet. See how things go with Brian tonight and then be the judge." Jasmine nodded, knowing Mia wanted the best for her. "He may end up being the one you marry and build a home and have a family with."

Jasmine lifted her head and widened her eyes. Mia was getting ahead of herself; they were just going on their first date; if you don't count the numerous times Brian has gone to her work so they could spend some time together.

"What I'm getting at is, allow yourself to be happy for once and don't ruin it for you. because you deserve happiness, and Brian may be the one to give it to you."

Jasmine smiled and hugged Mia tightly. This is why Mia was her better half, she knew her better than she knew herself and understood the things she does to hurt herself. Mia was the one that kept her grounded and reminded her that not everything was dull and there was good in people.

"Thank you, Mi. I don't know what would I do without you in my life," Jasmine whispered against her hair. "I love you."

Mia smiled subtly at the words of affection coming from Jasmine. "No worries Jas, you're also my everything. I love you so much." Mia pulled away to look at Jasmine one last time before she stood up and clapped her hands. "Okay, now let's get you ready."
