I woke up to the scream of my alarm. The vague memory of the dream lingered in my mind as I showered and dressed for school. I couldn't keep from thinking about that man. He had been turned away from me, so I never get to see his face.
"Leena, you better hurry or we're both going to be late!" My little sister, Dawn, yelled from the front entryway.
"So much for breakfast," I thought, and hurriedly put my shoes on and ushered her out the door. I drove the both of us down rode to the middle school first to drop off Dawn, and then I pulled into the high school parkng lot.
I was a few minutes early, though my sister had told me otherwise. I pulled out The Hobbit, and started reading. There was a knock on my car window only seconds later. I knew it was Serena.
I hopped out of the car to hug her. "I'm actually glad break is over. One more day without you I would have died of bordom!" Serena was more than enthusiastic. I can't say I didn't feel the same, though.
"Ugh, I know! Dawn was such a drag all week. All she did was complain about how she needs for clothes and blah, blah blah." I caught her up on everything that had happened over spring break, all except the dreams. I don't tell anyone about the dreams.
"So, how are we gonna end out our junior year? St the biology class' frogs free? Have a Breakfast Club style detention day? Oh! We could totally set a wild dog in Mr. Morino's office. He'd love us for that!" Serena had this crazy idea our year should go out with a bang. I just wanted to get through the year.
"Yeah, I'm sure he'd just be so fuzzy inside, he might even expel you." I said with a smile. We had begun to walk towards the doors to the school, when I saw him. I stopped dead in my tracks.
It was him.
"Leena? Anyone home?"
"Uh, yeah. Sorry. What did you say?"
I didn't listen to her as she explained again. I couldn't take my eyes off this guy. He was obviously new, sitting on a bench and flipping through a textbook.
"Ooooh! Leena's got a crush!" Serena teased, finally realizing I would never answer her question. She must have noticed I was staring at Mr. No name. She wasn't as shy as I was though. She walked straight up to him.
"Hi there! I couldn't help but notice, I've never seen you here before. You new?"
"Yeah, I just moved here from Europe." It was worse than I thought. His voice was like honey and his smile was perfect.
"Oh, well what classes are you in? Maybe my friend Leena has classes with you." Way to be discreet, Serena.
"Uh, A.P. Chem, Advanced Geometry, Musical Theatre..." Our schedules were identical.
"Wow! You two habe soo much in common! Well we better get to class. I think I jut heard the bell. Bye!"
Yeah, she better hurry, I though, When I get my hands on her for making this so awkward...
