Komorebi(japenese)- n. Sunlight filtering through trees.

I look down at my phone for the thousand time to check the time never would I had thought this house would be so far away. I look down at my phone to see it only being 5:35pm. I turn over to my dad who's driving and looking straight ahead of him. He's never been the same since what happened.

Wishing I could be with my mom right now I suck the tears back and try to look happy. I look out the window and realize that there are no longer tall buildings as well as houses or stores, it was all just trees and the beauty of nature.

"Nicole, lo mas largo que de vas a quedar va aser un mes." My dad speaks for the first time since we started driving. "Okay dad." I nod my head. He looks at me with a fake smile and I try to smile back at him, but we both know we're far from happy. ( Nicole, the longest you will stay is one month.)

"I'm gonna stop at the next restaurant I see it's been a few hours and I know that we are both hungry. Is there any place in particular that you wanna eat at?" My dad asks me. "Um I'm fine with what ever is closest." I said back while still looking out the window. "Are there even any restaurants here? I haven't seen a single building in a while." I asked my dad looking towards him. "I'm sure there has to be something out here."

After about 30 minutes of driving we came to the decision that we might as well just go straight to Alex's house.

"Can I put music on?" My dad shakes his head and I pair my phone to the car. I start to sing along to one of my favorite songs.

"Wanna... fuck the world I'm a walking erection."

"Just because I fuck You that don't mean I trust you. I don't"

"We're here." My dad snaps me out of my vibe. I look around and this house is fucking huge. "Umm you told me I was staying at your friends house. This is a damn mansion..." I look at the beautiful house as my dad parks the car. "Well I guess I could've mentioned that part." He chuckled before stepping out of the car.

I take off my seat belt and grab my phone and headphones and put them in the pocket of my hoodie before getting out of the car. Right away I see a brown curly haired tall guy. Vincenzo. Also known as my childhood best friend also my dads best friends son. They've have been best friends for as long as I can remember, probably even longer than I've been alive. "Wow. I can't believe it's you! Oh my! You have grown so much since the last time I have seen you Marie-Ann." He walked over to me and gave me a tight hug. "Vince!!" I shouted and hugged him back. "It's been such a long time since I've seen you. And we're only two years apart don't exaggerate." I laugh at him, I was a little shocked that he called me Marie-Ann. No ones called me that in a while I'll just remind him to call me Nicole later I figured.

"Hey Alfonso, not a day over sixty." I laughed at Vince making fun of my dad. "Vince I'm only barely about to be forty years old." My dad rolled his eyes playfully.

My dad and Vince start having a conversation while I start to think of the last time I've seen him and his family. I was around fifteen or sixteen I believe. It was for my birthday and it was one of the best days of my life.

"Well hurry up let's get inside it's so cold out here." Vince says once him and my dad are done talking. Hesitating a bit I walk right behind them. I've never been to this house before. I've been to plenty of their families other houses across the country but not this one. It's definitely 100 times bigger than the rest and it's not like those were small either.
