Have you ever thought about how fragile life can be? How in a flash it can all be over. One minute you're there and the next you're gone. Most people don't, and like most people I didn't.

We as humans take life for granted. Can you imagine being a humming bird? Everyday for them is an extreme fight for survival and I would soon find out what it is like to live like a humming bird.

I woke up to the sound of screaming, the kind of scream that is right in your ear but clouded like your underwater. This gut-wrenching scream sounded so familiar to me. The tone in the voice so unforgettable... it was my mothers voice.

I let my eyes open but didn't move a muscle. Three men sporting dark clothing stood over my mother while she cowered in fear.

The sound of a gunshot could be heard. Then complete and utter silence. It almost felt serene in an eerie way only few could understand. It was a still quiet, a pause in momentum.

Once I knew they were far enough away. I stood up on my now shaky legs and began to look around. It wasn't only my house that was destroyed but my whole neighborhood. As far as the eye could see all that was left was debris. From what I could tell... this wasn't a one time target. Something big was coming...

I knew if I was going to survive id need to pack and leave immediately. I began to climb and jog my way through the remains looking for anything helpful.

*crunch* "what the..."  tears began to develop and fall down my cheeks. They were silent tears. The most heart shattering. In my hands I held my mothers reading glasses.

She was such a bookworm you hardly ever saw her actual face. A beautiful face much like my own. A tear drop shaped head, strong cheekbones complimented by plump red lips.

My dad however wasn't much of a bookworm at all he mostly enjoyed... Well to tell you the truth I'm not sure.

Speaking  of my father where is he? Looking around I didn't find a sign of him anywhere. Like he had vanished in the middle of all this mess.

That's strange maybe he worked late again last night and didn't make it home before this... Well idk what to call this, disaster? Started.

So this would make my first story. It's incomplete and not perfect if there's a typo my bad I obviously didn't intend for that. However I did enjoy writing this first chapter and have an outline with how the rest of the story will be going. So let me know what you think. Xoxo~Sedona
