I wake up to my alarm screaming in my ear. I groan as I turn it off and grab my collar. I stand up and head to my bathroom to get ready. Once I come out, I change into a clean uniform. With that. I head to class. Austin's here. How unexpected. I make my way desk, trying not to rise the attention of Austin and his fan club. Unfortunately, he has other plans.
" Hey Selena! Where have you been? It's been forever!" Austin yells not so subtly. I cover my face with the hand. Maybe if he can't see my face, he'll forget who I am.That's right, it was all just a dream. A weird dream. But a dream? Develop. He leans in and pokes my shoulder. "Hey, are you okay? You look like you're trying to hide something."
"Austin! Why are you paying more attention to the ghost than me? She's not even that pretty." One of his fans whines, glaring at me as the fan club holds Austin from behind. Chill out girl, I don't care about dating. He brushes them off and leans in close.
"Did you just ignore us for this bitch?" One of my fellow collars growls. Grabbing me by the collar. I give her a dry glare and lean in. She spits on me. I don't flinch as we stare into each other's eyes. I look down coolly and wipe the spit off my face.
"Back off!" Austin yells, pulling her away from me.
"Whore." I say simply, tilting my head as I examine the girl. Right, she's in for attempting to murder her boyfriend for cheating. Such a boy crazy little thing. Her eyes widen as she trembles in her place as I stare into her soul. "Filthy little whore." I continue, grabbing her face roughly.
"Get off her! I'll shock both of you!" Coach says as he comes in. For some reason, I don't really care right now. The girl trembles as she starts begging. Who exactly is she begging to? Me or him?
"Let her go Selena, this isn't you." Austin mutters, shaking me. I stand up, still holding the girl's face as I back her into the wall, pinning her down.
"Call the guards! We have two collars fighting!" The coach says before elecricity rushes through us. I smirk as I grab one of the other fans, sending the current into her.
"Selena, come on!" Austin says, pulling at one of my arms. The door slams open and I turn. They're here. I throw the girl their way and open the window. It's only two stories. Before I can do anything, the current rushes through me once more. My knees give out as the shocks continue rushing through me. Someone throws themselves over me as my body trembles. I close my eyes and ready myself. I should've stayed silent. I should've stayed dead. I'm a ghost. Maybe, maybe I'll let go this time. I hear the thuds but, why don't I feel it? Looking up, I find Austin above me.
Why is he letting himself get hurt for my sake? I don't get it. The people stop and pull away. Austin gets up and pulls me to my feet. What's going on? Heels click and I sigh, turning around, holding my hands in front of me. The sky looks so pretty. There aren't many clouds. That one looks like a dog. When was the last time I saw one that wasn't blood thirsty?
"My my. I believe you need to remember your place." It's the dean once again. They cuff me and put the hood over my face. That's right. I'm nothing. My feet follow them as I'm forced out of the room. I tone out the lecture as I keep my head down. It sure does sound like there's a lot more skipping than usual. There's yelling, why is there yelling? My hood is pulled off and I'm thrown to my knees. I keep my head up as I look out the window. This is it. They're about to kill me, just like they always kill us.
"Princess! Get up, this isn't any time for you to be on your knees. Get up." Marcellus? What's he doing here? I tilt my head before looking out once again. "Princess?"
"So, you made friends, how about I show them what you're really like? I hope you remember what happened last time you made friends." The dean huffs, tapping her toes as I rise to my feet. She glares down at me as I stare at her. She pulls out the remote and I tilt my head as I smile.
"Is she going to kill the raisin?" The twins, what are they doing out of my dream?
"Excuse me? I believe you two need to go in the hole too." The dean snaps, grabbing her baton. I stand between them and advance toward the dean. Her eyes widen as she starts going backward.
"Selena!" I ignore Austin as I keep advancing her, making her press into the lockers as I stare her down.
"The hell's gotten into you? Stop this right now! I will contact your parents!" How funny. Apparently, I'm the daughter of Lucifer so I don't think Mama would be surprised. But I'm Mama's favorite. I wonder. I punch the window beside the dean and grab a big piece. White drips down from the wound as I clench my hand around the glass. "You're going in the hole!" She screams as I hold the glass up to her. What, she doesn't want to confiscate it? I just wanted to see if the dream was real.
"Hey crazy, what's the hole?" It's the girl, the stocky one with short hair.
"Oh, your friends want to see the hole? Why don't we put on a show? I'm sure you lot will behave after seeing the hole." With that, the good is put back on me as another shock rushes through me. I groan but manage to stay on my feet as I tremble. They turned up the voltage. That's rude. I follow them willingly, knowing resistance means they'll leave me with the collar. When the heels stop clicking, I stop. The hood is removed and I open my eyes. I'm in position for hosing. Guess they want to humiliate me first. I clench my jaw as I look to the sky. I could fly. No. That was all a dream. No, I bleed white, so maybe it's not. I don't know anymore.
"On with it! Hose the bitches off!" I look to the stands. It's the pervert who watches to see when the water soaks through our clothes. No kids this time at least. Wait, my collar! It's still on! My eyes widen as they turn the water on.
"Enough! Take the hoses away!" I look over to find a man. Who is that? He has dark hair that's slicked back and a suit on. I know I've never seen him around, who is he? I don't get it. The water turns off as all eyes go to the man in the suit and the dean as they stare each other down. The water's off at least, but this is never good. Men in suits, I don't trust them.
"And who might you be? Why are you interrupting these little brats' punishment?" The dean snaps as she gets in his face. He stays calm as he looks down at her. Maybe this is my chance to run. No, that would be futile. They would hunt me down again.
"Careful about how you speak to others. We're here for inspection. Based on what we've seen, it would seem that it's long overdue." Another man says, one with short blonde hair and an air of importance to him. The children are released and rush off to their class or other places. The audience all rush off too. What does he mean by inspection?
"Selena, come on, let's go." Austin says, grabbing my arm. I tilt my head as I shake my head. I deserve the punishment. I almost killed someone today.
"Princess, hate to agree with bird brain, but we need to scramble." Marcellus says, grabbing my other arm. No. No, I'm not leaving. I twist out of their grasp and shrink into myself. If they take me, they'll be punished too.
"Get away from her this instant! That wrench is going in the hole, immediately." The ward practically screams as the guards grab me. They practically drag me towards the hole as the ward argues with the men in suits. The brown haired one is staring, I wonder why. I close my eyes as they stuff me inside, shutting the top. Darkness encircles me as I shuffle around. There's a lot of screaming going on. How annoying. I'll sleep till they let me out. I wonder how long it'll be.
