Riley POV
"Do you want me to make a fucking pie chart?" I yelled.
"First of all, don't curse! Lux is just in the other room, and why would you do that? I said no, and that is final!" My mum shot back.
It was a typical mother/daughter fight. I was asking my mom permission to do something to my appearance and she didn't approve. I mean I'm 16 for godsakes, I have to make my own decisions at some point. My mom is quite protective over me, as are my sister, and my dad. I'm the baby, and I respect that, it just gets annoying.
"But you let Lou do it!" I begged.
"Honey, Lou is almost twice your age and doesn't live under my roof anymore, she is allowed to make her own decisions"
"Oh mom, let the girl live a little! It's just dying her hair, she has nothing to loose! I mean the whole idea of fashion is taking risks!" Lou said.
"Thank you" I sighed, at least someone was on my side.
"You just want her to experiment on!" My mom said to my older sister.
"Excuse me, but I am a professional hair stylist!" My sister shot back. "Now lets go, Riles" She said, taking my wrist and guiding me up the stairs.
"She said yes?" Sam asked, sitting on the covered toilet seat, mixing the violet color that would soon be in my hair.
"No, but Riely is an independent 16 year old women who is allowed to decide what she does on her body" Lou said.
"You just want to experiment on her, don't you?" Sam teased, brushing the access dye on the sides of the bowl.
"No! Why does everyone think that?" Lou heavily breathed, frusterated.
"Whether you are doing this for fun or are really joining the Equal Rights for Riley foundation, I don't care. I just want this in my hair before mum comes up here and flushes it down the toilet" I said, taking a seat on the floor. My sisters chuckled, already getting to work on the project that was my blonde hair.
After about an hour, they finished coating my hair and left me to my magazine and music.
"You shoot my down, but I wont fall..." I sang loudly, my not-so-lovely singing voice ringing through the house. The faint smell of hair dye filled my nostrils as I flipped through the One Direction cosmo edition. To be honest, I don't even know why I'm reading this...
The buzzer sitting on the toilet, startled me as it rang directly in my ear. I quickly picked it up and turned the nozzle so it would stop with its racket.
"Lou!" I yelled, hearing footsteps approaching shortly after.
It took about a half hour to remove all the tinfoil from my hair before I was instructed to rinse out the extra color and come downstairs for lunch.
Being lazy old me, I threw my hair up in a messy bun, put on my navy adidas sweatpants, an old gray Sorority sweatshirt that belonged to one my sisters friends and my Ugg slippers.
"Mmmm smells so good!" I said skipping down the stairs. "What are ya making momma?" I asked, leaning against the counter top.
"Deli sandwiches. Why don't you go set the table, Riley?" She said, not turning around.
"You're not going to look at my hair, are you?" I asked, being ignored. I sighed, taking a stack of place mats and placing them on the table.
I was counting them out, placing them before each chair. I heard gurgling sounds from Lux to my left, so with an impulse reaction I turned towards the noise with a smile. However I was stopped in my tracks when I saw a familiar face throwing Lux up into the air. When she was cradeled back into his arms, the face turned towards me. At first, startled and then confused.
