Lilith's P.O.V

This time the girl is not in her room like normal instead, she stands in an open field filled with poppies. She faces away from me and starts to walk further and further into the flood of vermillion; instinctively, I follow her into the depths of the field. After five or so minutes of following the girl, she finally turns around to face me. She reaches out her hand and says, "take it."

Snow amongst the fiery poppies- her hand quivers as if she is cold, awaiting me to take it. Hesitantly, I grasp onto her hand, and instead of being met with the cool touch of her skin, pain burns through me, causing a tear to fall from my eye and a scream to escape my lips.

Amongst all my pain, the girl continues to talk "Give it back, push it back."

At first, the pain clouds my mind, and confusion washes over me. What does she mean, push what back?

"The pain Lilith, push the pain back." She says, her grip tightening on my paling wrist.

I take a deep breath in and I let the pain absorb into my skin, as I do the pain becomes a hum beneath my skin. I breathe out- willing the hum to move out from the rest of my body and to my fingertips. As I do this the girl starts to smile, after the ache reaches the tips of my fingers it starts to disappear. I glance at the girl and notice a flicker of agony spark in her eyes.

"Well done Lilith." Despite her obvious pain, her voice stays melodic and calm.

Beams of sunrise appear through my silver curtains, waking me up from my land of dreams. An ache hums in my fingertips and around my wrist from where the girl had grasped me. Judging from the rising sun, it is only about four, giving me four hours until I must meet Asher Redwood for breakfast. Normally servants would come to wake me at six, but since I am already awake, I may as well make a start on the day.

Whilst drawing myself a bath, three sharp knocks sound throughout my chambers. Who in Siopi's name is up at this hour?

I open the door only to find Grace standing before me with a breakfast tray in hand. "Grace why are you awake and why are you here?"

"Well Miss Lilith, I heard you stirring and thought you may like a little bite to eat and all servants wake at four."

"They do? Well thank you, I was just drawing myself a bath though Grace."

Grace hurries into the room and places down her silver tray at the end of my unmade bed. "Oh, let me do that for you, your highness"

"Thank you, Grace would you mind sorting me an outfit to wear for my breakfast date with Asher?"

"I will get right onto that, Miss Lilith." Grace comes out from my bathroom and busies herself with another task.

Grace has always been better at drawing a bath than I have, the essential oils always complement each other in a way I never seem to achieve. I submerge myself in the boiling water, washing away any remnants of yesterday from my body. When I come back up from under the surface of the water, I hear grace attempting to talk to me.

"Are you not excited, Miss Lilith? I mean Asher Redwood is one of the most sort after courtiers and clearly your family approves."

"No, I am not excited, Grace. It will be a tedious affair that will result in nothing."

"Well Miss, I think he's rather charming."

"You would Grace."

After having climbed out of the bath, I wrap a towel around myself, and my soaked hair, and make my way into my room. Grace is sprawled out on my bed, eating some of the strawberries that were on the breakfast tray.
