Two Days Later:

Police lines still covered Ray’s house as police officers went in and out, you watched from your window silently as a tear dropped down your cheek. You weren’t crying because you loved Ray or anything but because you were afraid. Officers were focusing less and less on your case and more and more on Ray’s. The only time police came around anymore were to ask you questions about ray, considering you were the last one to see him alive. You were undoubtedly a suspect, but you were also a victim! The police seemed to forget the fact that someone was stalking you and had left threats at your doorstep!

You knew that you had to take matters into your own hands if you wanted to be protected…no one else was going to do it for you.

You shook your head and walked away from the window and flopped on the couch to turn on the TV. The moment you switch on the television the news popped on, you raised the volume when a picture of Ray popped up on the screen.

Eighteen year old Ray Smith was brutally murdered in his California home two days ago. Police stated that they are actively searching for the murder, who some say may be linked to earlier crimes in the same neighborhood days before the murder was committed. The mayor is recommending parents to keep their children close and suggest that no one goes out too late at night. Remember to keep your doors locked and your windows closed. Reporting from Channel Nine, I’m Stacy Green.”

You stared at the screen blankly as the news switched over to another topic, as if ray’s murder was just a warning…just something that would eventually pass over. But this was your life, his life; and things were now changed forever. You quickly turned off the television and sighed.

“This is so fucked up…” you mumbled to yourself, rubbing your hands over your face.

You hadn’t slept in close to five days and you couldn’t fight the sleep anymore. You tiredly pulled yourself off the couch and down the hall to your room. You pushed open the door and fell face first on the bed, instantly falling asleep.

Pebbles, rocks, and twigs pierced your bare feet as you ran in the woods. Although you couldn’t see who was chasing you, you could hear the person’s deep, uneven breathing catching up to you. You slammed tree branches out your way as you stumbled over tree roots and stones. Fog was everywhere, which forbid you from being able to see. You whipped your head around in every direction as you began to hear voices from every direction.

Run, run as fast as you can!

Don’t turn back!

You frantically covered your ears with your hands as you continued running.

You won’t get away!

The deep breathing behind you seemed to be right against your ear. You opened your mouth to scream but nothing came out. Suddenly you tripped, crashing onto the floor; you picked up your hand to run but noticed it was drenched in blood. You looked down and noticed that instead of sitting in a pile of dirt you were surrounded by blood.

He’s getting closer!

As you layed in the blood, unable to move you saw a shadow appear behind you. An arm then reached out and grabbed you roughly and you screamed…

“AHHH!” your head snapped forward and you looked around. You weren’t in a forest, you weren’t covered in blood, and you weren’t being chased; you were lying in your bed with sweat covering your face and the sheets thrown about.

Your heart felt like it was about to launch out your chest and your breathing was quick and hard. You grabbed a handful of your hair and pulled it back into a messy bun as you struggled to regulate your breathing.

“Bad dream?” a voice suddenly asked, causing your heart to jump. You quickly turned your head in the direction of the voice to see Prince leaning on your closet door.

“Prince what the fuck are you doing in my house!” you screamed pushing yourself back towards the headboard.

Prince grinned and walked closer to you, ignoring your question.

“Why are you so afraid of me?” he asked getting even closer.

“I have no reason not to be!” you screamed uncomfortably backing up again.

Prince stayed quite but continued in getting closer until he was kneeling on the bed, inches from you. You hated the fact that he was so close, the way his dark curls fell against his caramel complexion, the way his brown eyes glowed into yours, and his smile all made you want to melt. Prince silently stared at you with extreme intensity until you spoke up,

“Why do you keep staring at me?”

“…I miss you.” He finally whispered breaking the silence.

You looked at the sheets uncomfortably, pretending that there was something interesting about them which was stalling you from answering.

Prince cleared his throat awkwardly before speaking again,

“I know you’re probably still mad at me but I just wanted to stop by…and see you.”

Prince then leaned in and gently kissed you from your cheek up to your ear and whispered,

“Meet me at the lake around ten if you want to talk.”

You finally looked up from the sheets and made eye contact with Prince before he pulled up your window and climbed out.

“Stay safe.” He replied before closing it shut and walking away.

You sat in the bed for several seconds pondering before you jumped up and ran to the window, pulling it open again. You leaned out your head and were seconds from calling Prince when suddenly you felt someone plant a kiss on your cheek. You knew it was Prince before even looking.

“Why didn’t you leave?” you asked in shock.

“I was going to sit out here until you did.” Prince explained climbing back into the house.

“How’d you know I would open it for you.” You asked, fighting from blushing.

“I didn’t.”

“You could’ve been out there all night.” You replied lying back on the bed.

“Wouldn’t be the first time.” He mumbled under his breath.
