The Next Day…

The sun still hadn’t arisen but you didn’t bother waiting till then to get out of bed. You still hadn’t been able to fully sleep because of the night before which caused you to feel tired. You could almost feel the bags forming under your eyes. You roamed around your empty kitchen looking for breakfast as you thought of back to the mask. It was raggedy and dirty with a black cross drawn on the forehead. Two, uneven holes were cut into the mask, allowing the person to see and then another holes at the bottom big enough for the person’s mouth.

Everything about that mask scared you and you couldn’t imagine the person behind it. Just watching you, and taking pictures of you; doing god knows what with the photos. You felt sick to your stomach as you continued to think, causing you to lose your appetite.

“Fuck breakfast.” You mumbled to yourself before entering your room. You immediately ran over and closed your window blinds, making sure no one could see you. The thought of your stalker sent chills through every inch of your body. You felt violated, disgusted, angry, and most of all…scared. Was he a killer, a kidnapper, a rapist…all of them combined? You began to imagine what he looked like; he was probably old, fat, and hairy. Disgusting.

You hurriedly got dressed and left the house early, hoping to having a word with Ray. As you walked out the house, you made sure to lock the door. You did a quick scan of the neighborhood, checking for any unwanted attention from people around. The only people around at the moment was a mother strolling around with her daughter, two little boys playing in their front yard and Ray sitting outside of his porch. You reluctantly walked across the street to his house as he looked through his phone, unaware of your presence.

“Hi.” You whispered catching him off guard.  He looked up at you in surprise but then his face grew annoyed.

“What?” he mumbled, turning his attention back to his phone. You fidgeted uncomfortable and shifted your weight from one leg to the other before answering.

“Um, how you been?” you asked trying to kill the awkwardness in the air. Ray looked at you coldly before getting up.

“(YN), what do you want? You want another round with the D…I mean, I’m not trying to start a relationship or some shit?” he said in annoyance. He rolled his eyes every time he looked at you.

“Look I just wanted to come over and say hey and that…I saw that dude you were talking about the other night…”

Ray looked at ypu in confusion before answering.

“What dude?”

You sighed and answered silently. “The guy in the green mask…the one you saw in my window; I saw him last night.”

Ray’s face relaxed, as if he finally remembered what I was talking about and then his look of annoyance returned.

“So? What do you want me to do, shit that’s your problem.” He snarled while getting up from the porch. He slapped his phone closed and then shoved it in his pocket, turning his back to go back inside.
