John couldn't wait to get out of school. He had the worst day ever. He had did all kinds of stuff that would get him in trouble..... He had wrote on the bathroom walls, had started a food fight in the cafeteria, and even ate some of the mints Ms. Carfal had left on her desk. John had gotten away with all of these things, and in a way, he was lucky. But, somewhere inside, something kept knaging at his heart, something telling him that he had to stop. He flew home on his bike, thinking of sitting on his couch, away from the prison everybody called school. He opened the door to his house, and immediately, he felt that something was wrong. the air was thick, like it had just rained. The house smelled of old cigars, and his dad only smoked when he" had the blues" as he called it. He hurried up the stairs, into his parent's bedroom. His dad was lying on the bed, with cheeks wet with tears. He opened one eye and stared at John. "My son, " He started, his voice was as raspy as an old mans, though he was only 40. "Your mother....." He stopped. John knew immediately what had happened. They were getting a divorce. They had been arguing ever since John was a kid, but..... He never thought that IT would ever happen. He didn't know what to think.
