I slowly opened the door to the nurses' office and was instantly bathed in the sunshine through the large windows that covered the walls. Around my desk could get rather dark since most of the time the sun shades were down over the windows and the office was not in a great position for sunlight. I was pulled out of my thoughts of the warm sunshine by the voice of an old woman.
"Did you need something dear?" The short woman in a doctors' coat asked as she turned to me from her desk. She was easily recognizable as Recovery Girl.
I paused for a moment as I looked at the woman, "Yes, I came here just to take a short rest before lunch. Would that be okay?" There was a slight pause as I watched to see what she would say to me.
After a small nod she spoke, "Of course, if you'd like to talk about anything too I'm all ears." She offered, almost as if she could detect that something was on my mind.
It made me breathe a small sigh of relief as I closed the door behind me and went to sit on one of the few beds. "Thanks." Was all I said before I laid down and tried to get as comfortable as I could. Although there was a bit more sun that shone through the windows, the curtain around the bed blocked some of it out and made it a soft warm glow. My usual work attire wasn't the most comfortable thing to rest in, but I didn't let that stop me from falling asleep.
It was the bell that chimed for lunchtime that finally woke me up. This time I felt much more awake and energized. I quickly got up to see Recovery Girl had left for lunch and I was alone in the nurses' office. My stomach starts to grumble in displeasure and I go to the door to find students making their way to the cafeteria. I waited for a few minutes before the crowd died down and walked a bit of a long way to get to my desk to grab my lunch out of my bag. As I searched through my bag, I discovered I had forgotten to pack my lunch.
My sheer stupidity made me facepalm as I sighed loudly to myself. Did I want to join the trio for lunch and admit that I had forgotten my lunch, or do I just stay at my desk and say I forgot the time. It was an easy decision as I generally prefer not to lie. So I made my way to the teachers' lounge to join the three at lunch.
As I walked in, Hizashi was talking about some plan he had and both Shouta and Toshinori seemed to protest it. Although, the conversation stopped when I came along, clearly, with no lunch in hand.
Toshinori was the first to talk, "Where's your lunch? Did you forget it at your desk?" The concern he always seemed to hold made me feel very happy.
"I just totally forgot to pack it this morning. I guess I was more out of it than I thought." I say before sitting in the empty chair between Toshinori and Shouta. When I glanced between the three of them, none of them seemed happy with that reply. Without even another world each of them seemed to push over a part of their lunch and I quickly protested, "You don't have to-'
"Take it. You were clearly out of it enough to go sleep at the nurses." Shouta said as he went back to eating his lunch.
I was a bit confused as to how he knew I went to sleep at the nurses' office, "Eh? How do you know that?" Did he walk in and catch me sleeping or something?
He seemed to smirk a bit before reaching out and fixing some of my hair, "You have major bedhead. Looks like you got some decent sleep."
"You're not supposed to point that out!" Hizashi said to Shouta, almost scolding him.
At first, the comment made me blush a bit but soon the pair made me chuckle and realize my hair was quite messy so I planned on fixing it before going back to work. I thanked them for the food and ate and chatted.
A couple of minutes before the bell was going to ring I got up to go to the bathroom to fix my hair and head back to my desk. It was much easier to focus on what I was doing for the rest of the day. Although in a small break of the afternoon, Hizashi stopped by my desk at an irregular time.
"Could you stay after for a bit? I need your help with something after class. Don't worry; you can wait until all the students are gone." Hizashi said with a big grin on his face. "Meet me outside the nurse's office!"
I was pretty confused but obviously nodded, wanting to help, "Sure, I'll be there." I replied with no questions asked since I figured he probably wouldn't answer them anyway. Without another word, he walked away, obviously quite happy with himself and whistling down the halls. What a funny guy.
