I’m sitting at the veranda of my condo unit totally amused by the stars gossiping. Then the moon whispered, “Close your eyes, I have a surprise for you...” I closed my eyes for a moment. When I opened my eyes, I am at the roof top with all the fireflies dancing around me. It was magical for each firefly posses a color different from the other. They were dancing and prancing and sliding through the thin air. Then the moon whispered again “There’s not much time left. We have to bid goodbye.” This time, I’m at the edge and saw the fireflies one after another glides down the building. Without second thought I followed them. I’m halfway down when black wings spread from my back. It lifted me up. It drove me right to the moon and suddenly I was blinded by a white light.
I woke up in my room. It was that dream again. It have been invading my dreams for days. I stood up and went to the kitchen to drink. I fill a glass with water and drank it up. It was quite peculiar for I still feel thirsty. Instead of filling the glass with water, I returned the pitcher in the fridge and took a chocolate bar. After taking a bite, I felt relieved. Strange. I returned to my bed, sat at the side and remembered my dream. I felt a pang within me but I don’t know why. I tried to sleep again.
I heard the moon vaguely whispered but sounded mournful “Why?” I didn’t answer. I closed my eyes and moments later I’m at the rooftop again. There are no fireflies here but I saw them down. Some were far beyond. Even the stars are hiding behind the clouds. I walked to the edge. The fireflies below seemed to invite me. Then I heard the moon spoke “Don’t!” then it embraced me with its beam as if trying to hinder me.
It’s ok. I’ll be fine. I will be with you soon. Just wait awhile.
I took another step and fell. The fireflies seem to welcome me. Then black wings emerged again from my back. But this time it didn’t flap instead, it started to shed off feather after feather. Each one floats and dissolves through the air. Then… blackness. I felt a slight pain in my head. My memories then grew dim. I then whispered to the moon… This time I won’t be alone again. I will be with you forever. I won’t have to wake up. I will never wake up. Never again.
