"Alright ma'am. I'll stay. I thank you for your hospitality. I don't know how to repay you..." Delilah murmured softly, at once taking more sips from her ale, to avoid her eyes meeting the large woman's own.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't help but eavesdrop, but my God, did you just mention that your name was Salvador? I heard you say just now, that your last name was Salvador" A young lady energetically walked to their table and badged in on her conversation with Madam Eli

"Is my entire tavern going wild and crazy with amazingly stupid girls? Jeez! Have you lost your goddamn sense of manners, Corinth? Can't your dimwit little arse see that I am having a conversation with this young lady? A conversation you were never invited to in the first place?" Madam Eli snapped angrily at the intruding girl.

Delilah was more than curious, as opposed to Madam Eli's anger, because she wanted to know why the young woman, Corinth, had approached them so hysterically

"I'm sorry ma'am. I don't mean to be rude or anything. But Salvador is not a new name around here. Remember that girl? Salvador? A year ago she'd walked into this place, to find work. You, Madam Eli, employed her instantly. She was that beautiful. It was obvious that with a beauty such as hers, she was bound to bring in so much money for the tavern. She was my friend. We became quite close... Until she disappeared one day, and never came back. She told me about you. The little sister she had, tucked away in the good side of Florence. Away from all the violence. A Delilah Salvador."

Delilah's breadth hitched, as she struggled to breathe through the mass of sensations clogging her throat.

Her sister. Her sister had come here, possibly stayed here for a long period. And this people had met her. Seen her. Conversed with her, on a daily basis.

"Ah yes. I remember the chit now. Said her name was Guinevere... Salvador, but around here, we just called her Salvador, or simply Gwen. Such a closed off young lady. Not that I was  complaining, she brought in more money for the tavern than any other of my girls. But one night, she suddenly disappeared. Not a trace, not a note, no goodbye farewells, nothing." Madam Eli fussed

"It'd make sense that you are her younger sister. Your beauty could easily be matched with 'em gypsies. You are far more beautiful than Peharps even Genevieve was." Madam Eli remarked, her large, brown, calculating eyes raking over Delilah's form in blatant, unbridled inspection. Just about the way she did everything else. As if she were trying to calculate how much money she'd make, if Delilah were to suddenly become one of her girls here at the Tavern, not just merely a visitor.

"Uh.. How long did she stay?" Delilah finally strung up her wits to ask

"Three months." Corinth quickly replied. And Delilah closed her eyes tightly in grief. At least, she was getting somewhere, a new light, in the search of her sister. Even though it was coming from a prostitution house, and her sister then, had been very legally married.

Genevieve where are you? If you're alive, please trace your way back to me. You can't possibly be dead... I need you...

Without being asked, Corinth dragged a stray faraway chair to their table, and seated herself down with them

"She didn't leave much personal belongings behind, not that she had a lot of things to her name, in the first place. She was a loner. A traveller. And so, preferred to keep things few, light, and simple, for herself. But she did however leave a necklace behind. I wear it when I'm not working, it helps to remind me of her, because she wore it every single day she was here. But I guess it would make better sense if you had it, not me. I can't imagine the grief you must be feeling right now. Gwen was truly an amazing woman. I uh... I loved her. She understood me more than anyone else" Corinth quaked, before quickly reaching behind her neck, to pull out the necklace she was even now wearing already, around her slender neck

Delilah could have sworn she'd almost stopped breathing, as the long, emerald diamond necklace came into her view. Her mom's necklace. It had been passed down to Genevieve, being the first daughter.

Delilah stretched out her hand, and grasped the intricately craved, beautiful jewel right in the palm of her hands. It had been ages since she last saw this necklace. When they were younger, her Mom had never pulled the necklace. She always wore it. And when it was finally passed down to Genevieve, Genevieve had in turn never pulled the necklace as well. She always wore it. And yet, after staying at Madam Eli's for three straight months, she'd suddenly run away, and left the necklace, her most prized possession behind. What did that mean? Did she know wherever she was going to, she was going to meet her death, so had no need for the necklace any longer? Was she abducted? Was that why she couldn't say goodbye, and the necklace had been left behind? But one thing Delilah knew for sure, was that Gwen more than treasured this necklace. Her mother's last gift to her. She wouldn't have just casually left it behind, especially as she knew she wouldn't come back to Madam Eli's tavern again, if she truly had simply fled on her own freewill.

Delilah was faced with another gnawing thought. Who had sent her that diary? It couldn't be Corinth, Delilah quickly dismissed. Corinth did genuinely love her sister, she could see it in the depth of the young woman's eyes. She didn't look like someone with any sinister motive or plan. But someone, somehow, had known the family house where Genevieve had grown up in, known that Genevieve had a younger sister called Delilah, and had personally mailed the diary miles past, to reach Delilah. Someone wanted her here. Someone wanted her searching. Someone out here, might know what truly happened to her sister, and she needed to find out who, before it was too late.
