The Promotion

"Come on Helen! We have to get to the ceremony!"said Rayna.

"Coming!"said Helen.

THUNK! THUNK! THUNK! That was the sound of Helen running down the stairs. "Sorry, I couldn't find my badge." said Helen.

"But eventually I found it in my sock." "Good,"said Rayna." "It would have been very bad if you couldn't find it. Now we need to get there, fast."

Helen nodded. "I have an idea."

Helen smirked. After about 30 seconds of tying each other together they were soaring over the city to the central park. Finally they got to the park and the ceremony had just begun. They made it! "Okay, lets not do that again," said Rayna. To answer, Helen smirked untying them from each other. You see the two friends' parents had both died of of a terrible sickness, and while their parents had been dying the two friends had become very close. After their parents died the two friends decided to move in with each other. They became cops together and one time at a crime scene, Helen really did not like, she started to hover just above the ground. Luckily only Rayna and Helen noticed it. A couple weeks later Helen found out she had superpowers. The next day they were invited to a ceremony. This is what the invitation said:

Dear Helen O'Brien and Rayna Marks,

There is a ceremony at central park tomorrow at 7:45am. We would love for you to attend and watch. We hope to see you there.

Love, the P.O.O.S

Of course Rayna and Helen could not turn down an offer to go to an official P.O.O.S meeting. And no, not poos, P.O.O.S which stands for Police Of Order Squadron.

"Helen O'Brien and Rayna Marks please come up to the stage," said Chief Jordan. Helen and Rayna looked at each other nervously wondering if their late arrival could get them fired. The two walked up to the stage and looked at Chief Jordan. "Well?"said Chief Jordan "come on up." They went up on to the stage and looked out to the crowd. There were judges and jury and of course towns people all staring up at the two girls. They wondered if they were planning on firing them in advance and their late arrival made it worse. "Helen O'Brien and Rayna Marks. I have some news for you..." said chief Jordan.

The two girls nodded solemnly, they had worked three years of service and they were grateful they weren't fired earlier. "And no" said Chief Jordan reading the girls' expressions "you are not fired. You have merely been accepted for a new position as a detective."

The two girls' solemn expressions were quickly wiped off their faces, replaced by a joyful one. "Really!? We got accepted as detectives?!" squealed Helen and Rayna at the same time.

(They were always like that) "Yes," said Chief Jordan.

"When do we start!?"asked Rayna. "Tomorrow"said Chief Jordan "at 7:30 am sharp. Be there or lose the job."

The two girls looked at each other . They could do that easily, when they were cops they had to wake up at 4:00 am so this was sleeping in. Before everybody left Rayna asked Chief Jordan "Where do we go?" Chief Jordan replied "...on the helicopter pad..." Rayna heard Helen gasp behind her,

the helicopter pad had a very bad history.
