Scars

John Crimstone

Chief Jordan barely talked about it but after interviewing a couple people they got the story. It happened three to four years ago, there used to be a criminal named John Crimstone. John would steal little things at first, but then Christmas came and there was more presents and more money. Everybody was hurrying around buying presents and christmas trees, so no one really noticed him. Which is why he was very surprised when he was pulled into an alley. The person who had grabbed him was a man, he introduced himself as a criminal as well. John wondered how he knew he was a criminal since his face wasn't on the news...yet. He decided to listen to the man since the man probably knew more about John than John knew about him. The man spoke first, "Hello John." Again John was surprised.

"I have a mission for you...if you are willing to take it." The man waved money like a fan.

"I have an ex" he said "she left me for a woman with way more money. I cried and begged for her to come back but she just looked at me like I was some kind of slug. After a couple days I got over her, but then I saw her in the papers all rich and famous and I got mad. I tried to kill her but I...well...failed."

Then the man stopped. "I won't tell you anymore until you accept the mission."

"So my mission is to kill your ex?"said John.

"Yes."replied the man.

John considered that. He was a criminal but he wasn't like the others. He always thought it through, he always had a reasonable plan. Not go in, take what you can plan, sneak through the window if it is locked then go through the chimney and if they don't have a chimney take the garage, kind of plan. John looked at the man. "Yes" said John "I'll do it".

John looked at the man and the man handed him a pocket knife. John looked down at the knife and asked,"Do I get any more information about her?"

But when he looked back up the man was gone.
