You take a sip of your tea, eyes never leaving the page of your book.
You carefully put the cup down, eyes scanning the lines. Your heartbeat intensifies with every word.
Someone knocks into your table making your tea spill some of its contents.
You quickly lift the book and place it in your lap, while reaching for napkins. "Oh my gosh, I am so sorry!" A man exclaims. "Let me help you." He says, grabbing more napkins.
You don't look at him, just clean up the mess. The man wipes the table once more to be sure it's clean. "I am so sorry." He says genuinely.
You finally look up, your eyes widening slightly. "I, oh, um, that's okay." You say, managing a smile.
"Can I buy you another cup of tea?" He asks. You're about to decline when he lifts a hand. "Please. It's the least I could do." He adds.
You nod. "Alright. Thank you." You say.
He leaves and comes back a few minutes later. He sets the cup in front of you. "Mind if I sit?" He asks.
"No, not at all." You answer.
He takes the seat across from you and thrusts out his hand. "I'm Aidan." He introduces, a cute smile on his face.
"Y/N." You reply, returning the smile.
"Nice to meet you. Sorry I spilled your tea. This cafe tables are sometimes so close together." Aidan says.
You wrap your fingers around the cup. "Well, thank you for buying me a new one." You say.
For the next few hours, Aidan and you get to know each other a little better.
"You know, Y/N, I'd really like to see you again. And get to know you more." He says, as you prepare to leave.
Butterflies fly in your stomach as you place your book in your bag. "I'd like that as well." You say softly.
"I'm free Sunday morning." Aidan says.
"I'd love that..." You start. His face lights up. "But I have church choir all morning." You finish. His face falls. "Oh, okay." He says.
"But you can come to my church if you'd like." You suggest.
Aidan's face splits into a grin, his eyes alight with joy. "I'd love that!" He exclaims.
You grin. "Good. Great! See you Sunday, then."
