Invisible Strings

Green was the color of the grass where I used to read at Centennial Park

I used to think I would meet somebody there

Teal was the color of your shirt when you were 16 at the yogurt shop

You used to work at to make a little money

Time

Curious time

Gave me no compasses

Gave me no signs

Were there clues I didn't see?

And isn't it just so pretty to think

All along there was some

Invisible string

Tying you to me?

Bad was the blood of the song in the cab on your first trip to LA

You ate at my favorite spot for dinner

Bold was the waitress on our three-year trip getting lunch down by the Lakes

She said I looked like an American singer

Time

Mystical time

Cutting me open, then healing me fine

Were there clues I didn't see?

And isn't it just so pretty to think

All along there was some

Invisible string

Tying you to me?

Jennie's POV

It's the first day of senior year and I know most people are really looking forward to this moment. But not me, it was just another normal day and I really wish it would fast forward to graduation. I have been stuck in this town ever since I was a child and I just want to leave it behind and start a new journey already. I feel like I have reached my peak potential and I have achieved everything that I needed to achieve in this town. Don't get me wrong, I have travelled outside of this town and this country already. In fact, I spent summer break 2 years ago in New York City when my mom was assigned to a hospital there. But it's just different when you are moving to a new place with no intention of coming back home. The feeling of leaving everything behind. How I longed for that. A place where no one knew me or of me. Patience Jennie Kim. I reminded myself. I brought myself back into reality. I sighed and mentally prepared myself.

"Hey wifey! A pleasant morning to you."

My best friend Rosé or as I call her Chaeng, short for her real name Chaeyoung, surprised me. She put her arm to my shoulder as she came up to me from behind.

"I told you to stop calling me that, Chaeng. We sound like kids or like an old married couple."

"Hahaha! Don't you like that? At least people won't be flirting with you left and right, especially now that you broke up with Kai. I'll be happy to take his place as your girlfriend so that people won't bother you. Although, strictly platonic."

"No thanks. I'd rather be in a fake relationship with Jisoo than you since I can't have the school thinking their playgirl is now taken."

I said to Chaeng. Rosé and I have been friends for so long. It was actually me, Rosé and Kai. We were childhood friends. Jisoo and Irene joined us in middle school while Kai made friends with his football teammates. Kai and I, were the school's IT couple before we broke up while Rosé was the school's playgirl. It's not that she sleeps with everyone, it's just that she's very flirty and loved by everyone. That's why she's the student council president.
