The Ritual

Some time had passed since they started walking soon a stone doorway came into their sight. It arched high but was damaged a lot. The outlines of what was once a wall was present around the place .

As they reached its  footsteps he turned to her and said “this is as far as I can come”. And smiles at her pityfully.

Before going in she took the pendant from her neck thinking that soon she would not have any use for it. As she gave the pendant to him she said that this pendent will protect him , she believed that  it was the pendant that brought him to her and saved her. It was the only thing she could give back to him for his act of kindness .

Hearing these words his faced change feeling sad for the girl . He told her not to worry, that everything has a reason and hoped that she would find her peace soon.

Hearing words of encouragement from him she started  walking into the temple. Telling herself that it was all for her father.

There was an  eerie calmness was fill the place. Temple was almost completely destroyed and claimed by the forest . As she walked through it she saw, a small pillar with strange cravings in it that she did not recognise. In front of it  there was this small pond with crystal clear water .

As she looked upon the water  sudden thirst started to fill her throat .Soon she kneel down  and started drinking the water. Getting up she started to wander around, nothing special was there, no god to take her life .

As time passed she came to the realisation that the elder might actually be insane .As  soon as she walked outside she saw lee waiting for her .

Cheerfully she went to him and said all story the the elder said might just be a hoax and that she was happy he waited for her.
He said that they could go back to the village together.  She  smiled and nodded . They  soon started to walk back to the village. She was filled with happiness as she could go see her father again .
