The very next day Rose woke up, put on her school uniform; a short skirt and long sleeved shirt, and put her hair up into two long pig tails with two pink hair scrunchies.

She walked outside with her bag, and sure enough there Alex was, in uniform, standing with his bag over his shoulder. It didn’t surprise Rose that he was the popular kid.

“Good morning!” Rose said cheerily.

“Hey…wow…” He said drooling over Roses looks.

“What?” She asked.

“What do you put in your hair?”

“Does it look bad?” Rose said blushing.

“No, no, it looks phenomenal. You look really cute.” Rose turned an even deeper shade of red.

“Thanks, first impressions are always the ones that last.”

“Are bus is here.” Alex said turning around and walking with Rose onto the bus. The whole bus looked up at the two of them. Alex tapped Rose on the shoulder and pointed toward the back of the bus. The two of them sat in a seat alone and really got to know each other. And with every word, they began liking each other more and more.

They got off of the bus and even more students stared. All of the girls were glaring at Rose, while all of the boys gawked at Rose.

They proceeded to the main office and got Rose her schedule. Three girls walked up to them.

“So Alex,” The first one said. “Who’s your friend and when is she gonna take a hike?” As her friends all laughed at her rude joke together. The girl had blonde wavy hair and strait bangs. Rose’s head fell; she should have known that everyone would hate her.

“If she takes a hike then I’ll go with her.” Alex said, and Rose’ head snapped up.

“Alex?” Rose said.

“I told you that we were friends Rose.” Alex said smiling at Rose.

“You can call me Opal.” She said smiling back.

“Yeah, people call me Alex but you can call me tonight.” He said grabbing a pen and writing his phone number on the back of her hand. The other girls gasped.

“Alex! Why would you give her your phone number!?” The girl cried.

“Because Crystal! She’s nice and doesn’t know her way around; she’s cute and doesn’t act so rude!” Alex said grabbing Rose’s hand and walking down the hall, the bell for outdoor break rang and they went outside.

Most boys played football during break, but Alex drew all over the walls with chalk. Rose had a steady hand herself; Alex drew a beautiful background of rolling hills and a gorgeous sunset, while Rose drew little animals on the background.

Lunch was after break, and the two sat together on the stage alone. Alex had heard a bunch of rumors floating around about ‘the new girl and Alex’ but most of the kids like Alex wanted to know what she did with her hair. Well she was a witch; she used all natural blends that she made herself, out of rosemary and mint herbs with some rose petals for love.

Rose loved making herbal remedies for just about everything. She even made perfume once but only used it on occasions. She was talking to Alex at lunch and having a good time.

“So Rose, what do you do with your hair?” A girl walking by asked, and she really seemed sincere.

“Oh I…I make my own.”

“Really, you make your own products?” She asked.

“Yeah, I have a gigantic herb garden that I grew myself, and I put herbs in my conditioners and stuff.”

“That’s so cool.”

“Um, thanks, but anyone could do it if they knew what herbs worked best.”

“I wish that I knew stuff about herbs, and then maybe I could have beautiful hair like yours.”
