I woke up and the first thing I noticed was my massive headache. The second was that I was not in my home, but in one all too familiar, his.
I groaned out involuntarily.
"Hey, kiska how are you feeling?" He knelt by my side.
"My head is killing me. What happened?"
"You were hit by a car. What were you doing out at 5 in the morning?"
"I-I needed a walk."
"Why?" He pressed.
"A couple of thieves broke into my house last night."
"Oh my gosh kiska, did they hurt you?"
"No, I shot them both before they did anything."
He smirked. "That's my girl."
That phrase made butterflies erupt in my stomach, and I hated it.
"But that doesn't explain why you were out unprotected and without anything at 5 in the morning."
I sighed. "I couldn't sleep and was really antsy so I went for a walk, but I thought I was being followed so I crossed the street and that's the last thing I remember. Now before you interrogate me more can I please have some pain killers, maybe even your really strong stuff?"
"I quit drugs." He said as he got up to get me some.
"Doesn't mean you quit dealing or don't have a stash 'just in case'."
He became quiet and just left, I assume to retrieve some.
He came back and sure enough, he had some pills in his hand. He opened his mouth but I beat him to it.
"No need to explain, it makes no difference to me where these are from."
He cleared his throat. "Not that you want to know, but these are from when I got shot."
I knew Ace was in the mafia, he never told me much and had tried to not tell me at all, but when he got shot there was little he could say other than the truth.
"Where was your obviously worthless boyfriend?"
I gave him a look. "We got into a fight and I kicked him out and told him to go back to his apartment."
He nodded. "What did you fight about?"
"It kinda had to do with non of your business."
He chuckled a little. "Still my feisty kiska."
"Not yours, you made sure of that." I pointed out.
"I'm trying to win you back. What will it take?"
"I'm with Damien. You can't just decide I'm yours again."
"I already did."
I groaned. "Why are you so frustrating. I am not yours."
"Just a chance. While you're here. Let me try and win you back."
"Ace I can't. I am in a relationship with someone."
"Someone who is hiding his whole life from you?"
"What are you talking about? He tells me everything."
"Really? So where does he work?"
"He said he can't tell me."
"And that sounded legit?"
I shrugged. "There are quite a few jobs that aren't allowed to discuss what they do."
"I know what he does, but I won't tell you. I want to win you back the right way not bashing in your good-for-nothing boyfriend."
