BILLIE

the party her friends were talking about was in a couple of weeks and her anxiety couldn't be any higher. she was finally going to see the girl of her dreams after dropping off the face of the earth for years.

would she be mad?

would she be happy?

is she taken?

is she single?

what is she doing now?

billie had refused to torture herself by looking and stalking something she couldn't have at the moment. every night she'd clench her heart and feel it beating, the constant reminder she simply was alive for the one girl who wouldn't leave her mind.

staring at the a very memorable and specific ring on her finger she smiled softly before kissing it. the piece of jewelry was a wake up call each day, something to look forward to.

billie doesn't know if juniper had ever even noticed she left something behind for her, or if she even cares about it.

her friends have never said anything about the girl and it pained her each day to not know what was happening, but it was for the best.

she would throw herself into a downward spiral and fall out of control knowing something was just out of her reach.

did juniper even remember her?

throwing herself back into her bed she sighed loudly, rubbing her hands over her face. lately all that's been on her mind was questions about if juniper even cared about her wellbeing.

"what's up, sharky..", she slapped her hand on his backside, making him roll over. he stuck his tongue out to the side before chomping down, wanting to be pet on his head.

he scrambled over her body and to a picture she's had by her bedside. she recently put it up, finding it in a small lockbox while she was digging through her closet.

it was a picture of juniper smiling widely, billie planting a kiss on her cheek blissfully.

shark cranes his neck and licked the frame, whining as his eyes were steadily trained on juniper. he missed her, billie knew the girl gave him extra treats when she came over and pet him excessively.

juniper was always laughing or screaming when playing with the puppy, completely ecstatic and full of energy. she spent hours on end talking to him when billie was asleep, or when she thought billie was asleep. the singer would hear her deep talks with the puppy, interacting as much as she could.

billie never needed to take shark on a walk, and she didn't mind, juniper did that frequently. almost everyday and multiple times. the girl was practically obsessed with the pit bull, not allowing him to have a dull moment.

"you miss her, boy?", billie scratched behind his ears as he laid his head down on the night stand, his nose sniffing the picture.

"i miss her too...", she muttered, staring at the diamonds that adorned her fingers that were playing with shark's ear.

shark was accustomed to juniper bursting through the door in the afternoon, yelling that she was home. the first thing she would be greeted by was the dog sitting and waiting for her to pat his head. a fat smile on his face and an erratic wagging tail.
