Chapter 2: Be as one

--A few weeks ago--

“Ehh?!”

Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu had just received the news about their new member.

“When will we meet her? Will she be in our dorm? What does she look like? What’s her position?”

JYP appreciated their eagerness.

“She’ll be in your dorm. Her roommate will be Momo.”

Momo nodded, smiling brightly. She figured this was because she had also been chosen by JYP.

“We’ll be sure to welcome her with open arms.” Jihyo said, as the girls all cheered in agreement.

--D-Day, Yuri moving in--

Yuri grunted and groaned as she lugged the heavy suitcase down the stairs. The car honked impatiently as Yuri made a ‘one second’ gesture with her free hand. Eventually, she successfully got them down, and the driver got out to help her put them in the trunk.

“Big day?” the driver asked, opening the car door for her.

“Yep!” She smiled brightly.

After what felt like hours, they eventually arrived at the new dorm. After thanking the driver, Yuri carried her suitcase up the stairs and gingerly knocked on the door. There was a loud gasp, followed by footsteps. The door quickly swung open and 9 curious faces peered out at her from the doorway. After a few seconds, Yuri awkwardly waved.

“Uhm, hi! I-I’m Han Yuri. The new member...”

“Welcome!” The girls cheered as they led her inside.

After a few minutes of getting situated, Yuri sat down on the couch. Jeongyeon and Sana sat on both sides of her.

“So, where are you from? What made you join JYP?” Sana asked.

“Oh, I’m from Taebaek.” Yuri nodded. “And I joined because of groups like 2AM and Miss A.”

“Has JYP told you what position you’re in?” Nayeon asked, as the others tilted their heads.

“Hmm, I think I’ll be a vocalist. I’m certainly no rapper, and I like dancing, but I’m nowhere near polished enough to be in a dancer position.”

“Well, JYP is saying that we’ll get the lyrics for Like Ooh Ahh soon.” Mina said, scrolling through her phone.

Yuri clapped her hands in excitement as Tzuyu thought for a second.

“Hey, weren’t you supposed to be on Sixteen?” she said, as the others paused, before murmuring in agreement.

“Ah, yes, I was supposed to be. But some lineup changes happened last minute.” Yuri said, shaking her head. She wasn’t the only one. It was no secret that Sixteen’s line up had been changed like, 3 separate times.

“We already had dinner, but there’s some leftovers in the fridge.” Jeongyeon said, as Yuri nodded, opening the fridge and taking a small portion of the leftover banchan, eomuk and rice. As she ate, they continued talking about the upcoming debut, the song, the lyrics, and the concept.

-After a few hours-

“Maybe we should get some sleep. Big day tomorrow.” Nayeon said, rising from her seat.

Everyone nodded in agreement, getting up as well. Momo looked at Yuri.

“Ah, by the way, we’re roommates, Yuri.”

Yuri squealed, clapping her hands. She had admired Momo’s dancing even before Sixteen.

After getting blasted with cold water in the shower (Everyone had used the hot water before she got there) and putting on her pajamas, she hesitantly cracked open the door to her room. Trying not to wake anyone, she crawled into bed, before hearing Momo.

“Hey, are you fitting in okay?” she asked.

“Ah, yeah, I am.” Yuri said, before thinking. “Momo-ssi?”

“Yes?”

“I’m glad I got chosen.”

“Me too.”
