The last bell rang, and I looked outside the window noticing that the sky turned gray and was starting to rain. I sighed, knowing I would be drenched once I reached home.

"Mai!" someone called.

I then fell a bit forward having the weight of someone on my back. I turned to see who it was and saw it was my friend Jiha.

I laughed, "Hey Jiha."

She then looked out the window too and then at me.

"Did you bring your umbrella?" she asked.

I looked at her and shook my head.

"Mai! I always tell you to look at the weather report!" she complains.

"It's bullsh*t," I respond, picking up my bag.

Jiha frowns and wraps her arm around mine.

"Then let's go buy one."

"It's ok Jiha, I don't have change with me right now, I'll just bare with it."

Jiha sighs and arm in arm walk out the classroom, to the front gates of the school.

Jiha pulls out her umbrella from her bag, extends it and lifts it up, big enough for both of us.

"Thank you, but we go separate ways home," I say.

"It's fine, I'll take you to the bus stop."

I smiled at her and we headed to the stop, where Jiha dropped me off, said our good-byes and walked then with her other friends home.

I pulled out my earbuds from my bag and started listening quietly to my music while I heard the rain in the background. The one thing that I liked about the rain was how relaxing it sounded. I then felt someone watching me so I turned and saw a classmate on his phone so I turned back seeing the bus was here.

I sat down and looked out the window, admiring the passing view as the bus started, and closed my eyes for a moment.

~

I felt a tap on my shoulder, I woke up and found the same classmate I saw at the bus stop.

"Your bus stop," he coldly said.

I looked at the window and saw it was my bus stop.

"Thanks," I replied, rapidly grabbing my stuff and heading out the bus door.

I headed to my mom's convenience store and let the rain soak me for a bit then went inside.

"Mom, I'm home!" I yelled once I reached the back employee room.

My mom peeked through the room from the doorway, and looked at me in shock.

"Why you're drenched! How many times do I tell you to bring an umbrella when it rains."

"Sorry mom, the rain came unexpectedly, I'll bring one next time," I say, pulling out my uniform for work from my locker.

"It's ok, now get the mop and clean the mess," my mom said going back to her post.

I went into the changing room and took off my now drenched school uniform and put it in the dryer and put on my work uniform.

"Alright mom I'll take it from here," I sigh.

She kissed my forehead and left, leaving me to my shift. Most of the customers came in to get an umbrella, and a group of people and a couple other people actually came in to buy food, but mostly after that it was empty so I took out my phone real quick and logged on to Instagram, scrolling through. As I was scrolling I saw an account, similar looking to the guy who I saw at the bus stop who saved me from missing my stop.

I clicked on his profile and it was mostly based on his family having a successful business.

What the- he's rich?!

I scrolled down more of his profile and found out that he had a girlfriend, with a caption 'With my girlfriend.'
Honestly the caption itself should win an Oscar for best caption. I then heard the front door ring and quickly put my phone away in the pocket of the uniform. The customer then finally came to the cash register putting his stuff down and I scanned them all.

"That will be $5.45," I respond.

I looked at the customer and noticed his bright green eyes and his black hair swept back. I looked away casually back at the monitor. The mysterious green-eyed guy put down his money and I gave him 55¢ back.

"Have a nice day," I called out for what felt like the thousandth time today.

The guy looked me straight in the eye, "You too," smiled and left.

What the fu- who does he think he is, a player ugh!

But I couldn't help but notice my heart beat in excitement, it was to the point where I had to talk to myself to calm down.

~

Finally it came to the end of the day and I came out of the cash register area to flip the sign to CLOSED and locked the doors, but when I was about to, I slipped and fell, noticing that it was from the water I didn't clean up from earlier. I smacked my face, and then went to the storage room and grabbed the mop and started to clean it up.

Once I finished cleaning up and locked up the store, I grabbed my bag and took out my now dry school uniform from the dryer and went upstairs to my room.

"Dinnerʼs ready when you're done," my mom called out to me.

I nodded to her as a response and continued to head to my room. I grab a clothes hanger from my closet and hang my school uniform to the knob of my door. I then pull out my homework and get it ready on my desk.

"We're having some tuna salad, with some chili sauce and tostada," my mom explains, as I come into the kitchen.

"Thank you mom," I say, with a smile.

I sat down and began serving myself.

"So how was school?" she begins, asking her daily questions.

"It was nice and normal, then it started raining," I said, shrugging.

"You should start checking the weather news, or you'll catch a cold if you keep forgetting to take an umbrella," my mom begins to say, grabbing a tostada and proceeds to put it in her mouth.

"I will now," I answered.
