".... and now we're getting closer to fixing it all..."

KAT'S POV:

I coughed and waved my hand passed my face, the dust from the old books flying up when I opened them.

Casper and I had just begun our search for his father's old journal, in which he wrote everything down from his past experiments. We thought that maybe if we found the source of the concoction that brought my dad back, we could somehow manage to replicate its ingredients, bringing Casper back too.

"It's so dusty down here," I said, beginning to finger through the pages of each book. Nothing stood out to me, yet.

"What did you expect? No one's cleaned down here since my father died," Casper chided, flying up to another bookshelf and grabbing the leather wrapped journals that were stored there as well. No page would remain unturned.

He dropped the books on the desk, causing more dust to shoot up and into my face. I squeezed my eyes shut, hoping to not be blinded by the grey matter flying towards me. I coughed the remainder of it that I had inhaled, and shot Casper a dirty look.

"Sorry," He chuckled, and waved passed my face to get the dust off. I took a deep breath and opened the next book, hoping to finally see something helpful. The amount of books we had already been though was insane, and though there was no shortage of remaining ones, it would be nice if we'd at least gotten closer.

When I first opened this one up, it seemed normal, but then the next few pages, the words became abstract. It was almost as if the sentences were a code for something totally different. What kind of language was this? It seemed like that of a madman, writing down his thoughts in an asylum.

"Casper, can you make this out?" I asked, showing him the strange writings of his late father. His eyes lit up, as he seemed to know exactly what it all meant... perhaps it wasn't so crazy after all.

"Yes! This is my father's code. I remember watching him begin to write with it after I died," He said cheerfully, which was a bit ironic. Never thought I'd hear someone talk so happily about their death.

"Well what does it say?"

"Its the algorithm for the machine.... but we already know how to work it, so it's not exactly useful," He sighed, turning a few pages until he found something else. "This might help! It's got some of the ingredients to the chemical solution!"

"Really? What do we need?" I tried to follow along the lines of code, though I didn't understand one lick of it. Perhaps I could pick it up quickly.

"By the looks of it, there's nothing that we can't find here!" He exclaimed with excitement. He knew that this was the answer to his problem. It was the very thing that would make his wish come true. "I might need to read a little more, it doesn't say anything on how to mix it all together."
