Chapter 2

Pixies

Èlodie's P.O.V

"Wait up Èl, you're going to fast!" Yasmin exclaims, trying to catch her breath.

I stop running and turn to her."Sorry!"

We had been running for half an hour, and we were starting to get tired, even though we weren't even half way through the forest. All I know is that we have to get to Noah and Valeri before midnight, and nothing going to stop me from getting home. As I wait for her to get to where I am, I look at the orange sky.

"It's almost noon," I say to her, "we have to get going if we want to get home today; the Shaft will close at midnight."

"Why...did...you have...to say... midnight!" Yasmin screams angrily.

"Because I would like to get home today" I tell her truthfully.

"Ugh..."

She walks ahead of me as I stop to catch my breath. I look around the trees, and to my surprise, I spot a certain group of pixes.

"Kimi, Emelia, Levana!" I exclaim, as the three pixie sisters dive into my arms as they hear my voice."I haven't seen you guys in ages!"

"We've missed you so much Èlodie!" Kimi and Emelia whisper, fluttering their wings happily.

"I sense you are in trouble Èlodie; Do you need help?" Levana whispers as she looks up at me.

"Yes" I reply softly while nodding."We have to get home before midnight."

Kimi, Emelia and Levana have been my friends ever since I took my first trip to Tejina, when I was ten. I got lost on our way back home and they bought me back to my father. They don't care that I am human, and I don't care that they are from the same place as the sorcerers; they are still my friends.

"Èl, hurry up, who are you talking to?" Yas asks me while looking in my direction.

I motion for her to come over, and when she does, she widens her eyes.

"Èl! How and why are you talking to pixies?!" she exclaims,"you know we aren't allowed to!"

"What do you mean how?" I ask her, ignoring her statement. Fortunately, she doesn't notice.

"How can you understand what they are saying?"

"I just..." I pause for a moment, "can."

"Well I can't understand a word they are saying." she moans.

"Really?!" I doubt.

I have always been able to talk to animals and mystic creatures; I hadn't noticed that others couldn't do the same. Kimi nudge my shoulder.

"We can help you get home quicker," she says, fluttering her yellow wings.

Emelia flies up to me, and gives me a firm nod. "With pixie dust!"

She throws some of the magical dust into the air and giggles as they fall onto her face. She must be...nine years old now. That makes Kimi eleven, and Levana thirteen.
