Chapter 3

The Warehouse

Èlodie's P.O.V

The clear evening sky overlooks us as we pass the few stars that have begun to appear. Since my green dress is really short, I am practically frozen from the cold air. Yasmin turns to me and stops to wait for me to catch up. "How long do we have until the gates close?"

I hover in the air and look at my hand. I almost forgot that we had to be at the gates by midnight. I turn my hand so that my palm is facing down. A small light comes out of my hand; a hologram showing what time it is in Tejina."Half an hour" I reply to her, flying up to the pixies."Hey, Levana?"

"Yes?" She sounds dazed, and doesn't turn to look at me when she talks.

"Umm... Will we be able to get to the end of the forest by midnight?"

"Yes" she answers. Her brown hair flows in the wind as she soars foreword and gazes at the Fall Star; the star that points to the capital city of Tejina, Hereini. I look around my group of friends, only to see that Kimi and Emelia have done the done the same thing.

"What's wrong?" I cautiously ask; I don't really want to sound like I am trying to intrude on their private life.

"Oh," Kimi meets my gaze, her face glum and saddened."Don't worry it's nothing." I don't think that what she has said is true; there is something wrong, it's the only explanation for their behaviour. Without me having to try to persuade them to tell me, Kimi opens her mouth."Our father is fighting in the war against the Revolts."

"Revolts?" I question, unfamiliar with the words she has just spoken.

"The Revolts are the other race of sorcerers." Levana tells me, as if to answer the question I had just asked myself.

"Other race?!" Yasmin catches on to our conversation. I am just as surprised as her. I was never aware that there was more then one race of sorcerers; none of us were. In Resistance School, we were told that there was only one race of sorcerers, who had vowed to destroy what was left of the human race. That is what my father told me, and I knew he would never lie to me unless it was for my own good.

"The other group is called the Rebels," Emelia begins,"that's the people we are."

Desperate to hear more, I fly next to her, Yasmin not far behind me."The Revolts are greedy people who want power." Kimi says. Her wings lose their life and wilt, dropping down onto her back."We have to fight against them, since they want to hurt-"

"What was that noise?" Yas looks down to the forest full of curiosity. We immediately become alert and look at her in unison, before following her hand to look at where she is pointing. A small but vibrant light can be seen, and by the looks of it, it is getting closer and closer to us.

"No..." Levana chokes out. She sounds very distraught; if you've known her for as long as I have, you would know that her behavior towards this matter is very unlike her."Everyone get behind me!"

I swiftly follow her command (I didn't have to be told twice), flying behind her tiny body. Once everyone is with me, she opens her arms out. Blue sparkles emit from her fingertips and merge into a giant shield. She mumbles a spell and puts her hands together, sending the shield into the light which is flying towards us at a tremendous speed. I had no idea she had grown so powerful. "Ready to drop?" she asks us suddenly.
