Swanwhite took Goran's hand as she stepped up the stairs in front of her throne in her beautiful white lace wedding gown that Genevieve had designed for her. The gown had gold ribbons and trim as well as a flowing veil to match under her crown. Goran was dressed in a blue and gold velvet tunic with his sword at his side. They turned to face each other in front of Sir Kauffman, who had happily traveled from his home in the west to wed them. The throne room was decorated in white and gold ribbons with white roses on every pillar that made the room bright, and every dear friend and supporter Swanwhite and Goran knew gazed with happiness and wonder upon the queen and her general. Each said their vows with as much honesty and devotion as any couple before them or since, and not an eye remained dry as Sir Kauffman pronounced them man and wife. Swanwhite looked into her general's bright blue eyes that had captured her heart so long ago, and she felt her heart was full when they sealed their vows with a kiss.
"Oh Rufus! How lovely!" Swanwhite gasped when she walked into the throne room several days later. Four magnificent golden thrones stood on the dais, each one ornately carved with velvet cushions and inlaid jewels.
"I thought you would like it." Rufus agreed with a nod. "Think your husband will?"
"Does it matter?" She said jokingly with a raised eyebrow.
"I sense some decisions being made without me." Swanwhite spun around at Goran's voice and smiled when she saw her handsome husband stroll into the throne room in his new royal attire. He kissed her hand when he reached her and then turned to survey the thrones.
"I still don't think it is proper..." He began, "I am not of royal birth."
"Since you are my husband, I wish for you to rule at my side, even if you remain my military leader as well." She crossed her arms and gazed proudly at the four thrones. Hers and Goran's in the center, with her parents' thrones on the outsides.
"Then I shall endeavor to bear it for you, my darling." Goran chuckled and kissed her temple.
"Care to try it?" Rufus said with a nod of his head towards the thrones before winking at Swanwhite. The queen had to practically drag her general up the steps to the dais, but once he finally sat down beside her, he seemed at-ease and sat up straight with a regal expression deserving of a ruler. Swanwhite gripped his hand in hers in the space between their thrones and smiled, feeling like this was truly how it was meant to be.
