Chapter 12: The Start Of Something New

"Because I'm in love you and I need you to be save!"
"Y-You what?" I asked absolutely startled. Luke's eyes widened and he backed away from me a bit. "I'm sorry I blurted it out like that. You...you don't have to say it back." He mumbled and chewed on his bottom lip. It was obvious that I have feelings for Luke but love? I don't know if it's love. I've never been in love before, I don't know how it feels like. And to be honest, I never imagined Luke would say these little three words this early. I'm not even sure if we're in a relationship how can he say something like this to me now?
"Luke I- I don't know what to say.." I whispered, trying to avoid his eyes. "I'm not even sure what we are how can I know if I'm love with you? I mean I like you, a lot." He nodded and moved close to me again. "I want to be with you Ana. I want you by my side." He said and put his finger under my chin to lift it up. His dark blue eyes were fixed on mine and his face expression was serious, "You may have to figure out if you really love me but I know you have strong feelings for me so I'm asking you, do you want to be my girlfriend?"
A strong feeling of happiness and excitement washed through my veins and took over my whole body in just a matter of seconds. My heartbeat increased when I nodded and a small 'yes' escaped my mouth. The corners of Luke's mouth curled up into a smile. "No rush on the I love you thing okay? Say it when you're ready." He smiled and pressed his lip against mine. Our tongues danced with each other and my fingers tangled themselves in Luke's thick blonde hair. For a moment I forgot all my problems and everything around me. Butterflies erupted in my stomach just like the first time Luke and I kissed, but this time the feeling was even more intense.
After what felt like only seconds Luke broke the kiss and said, "We still have to discuss this whole Ashton thing." I sighed and nodded. "We shouldn't discuss this here though. Someone could burst in any minute. Can we meet later? Or tomorrow after school? I asked full of hope. The thought of leaving made me incredibly sad. I wanted to stay with Luke. "I can't tonight. I'm having dinner with my parents. But tomorrow is good. My place at around six? I can cook us dinner." He announced with a bright smile. "Okay. I see you tomorrow then." I smiled and pecked his lips before I sneaked out of the room.
In time I was home my face hurt from all the smiling. I felt like the happiest girl in the world and nothing could ruin this for me, not even the thought of Ashton. I am not letting him ruin my life. I'm not a doll he can throw around and use whenever he wants to. Ashton threatened to tell my mother about my feelings for Luke and the kiss we shared and I'm sure he would tell the schools principal as well which means Luke would go to jail because I'm still underaged. Since now he left me alone and I hope it continues this way but I'm sure as hell he will contact me any day now. I wouldn't really knew what to do, in case Ashton would actually talk to my mother I would just deny everything. After all Ashton doesn't have any proof of my relationship with Luke. We have to be careful, more than careful but it feels like it's worth it.
"Ana? Is that you?" I heard my mothers voice from the kitchen. "No mom, it's Beyoncé." I sarcastically replied and stepped into he kitchen. "Wow I never imagined I would have Beyoncé in my house one day." She said and sipped on her coffee. "How was school today?" I grabbed an apple from kitchen counter and took a bite before I replied, "It was okay. I got a B in my chemistry test."
"That's wonderful darling!" My mother cheered. "Can I ask you something without you getting mad? I know you don't like these kind of questions." I took another bite from the apple and shrugged. "Shoot."
"Would you be okay with it if I go out on a date this weekend?" She blurted out. My mouth dropped open and I almost coughed myself to death when a small piece of apple got stuck in my throat. No, oh please not a new guy. Surely I want my mother to be happy but if her new guy is as bad as the last ones this is going to be a disaster. "You don't seem very happy about it." She sadly smiled. "Well duh! Your taste in men is terrible! You can't do this to me!" I shouted. I tried to keep calm but anger build up inside of me. "Ana please give him a chance. He works in my office. His name is Joffrey and he is really nice. We're going out for dinner again on Saturday."
My throat tightened, "Again?" I hissed through gritted teeth. "We've been out a few times before. Ana I really like him and I think things are getting serious between us." She exclaimed. I didn't know why this made me so angry. Probably because deep down I still hoped my dad, who I actually thought I hate, would come back to us one day. It definitely would be better than some random guy from her lame office. "I'm not okay with this. No at all. I don't want you to have a new guy."
"Don't you want me to be happy Ana?" Hesitantly I shook my head. "I do, but not with a new man." My mother reached her hand out to mine. "I'm going to invite him over for dinner next week and then you're gonna meet him. You're gonna like him Ana I'm sure of it!" She smiled. I slapped her hand away and stormed out of the kitchen shouting 'No way in hell' before I ran upstairs into my room.
I let myself fall on my bed, grabbed a pillow and let out a muffled scream. "God damn it woman!" I groaned. No guy my mother had a date with was a good one. They were all awful and annoying and I'm sure this one would be just like it. I won't go through this again. It may seem selfish but I'm not doing again. It's not good for me nor my mother.
With a long sigh I pulled my laptop out from under my bed and started working on my homework. Not long after I heard my phone ring. The caller ID showed a picture of Sam along with her name. "Heya Sam. What's up?" I lazily asked. "I just wanted to let you know that I'm not coming to school tomorrow." She lulled.
God damn it is she drunk again?
"Why not?" I asked, rather uninterested while I scrolled down my
Tumblr dashboard. "I'm at this super awesome party at this super awesome house with this super awesome guy." She giggled. Even though Sam is my best friend her behavior lately was pissing me off. "Well good for you Sam. I see you later then." I was about to hang up the phone when I heard her say, "Ana you should come too we haven't been drunk together in ages now move your grumpy ass here." She shouted. "Me and my grumpy ass are not in the mood to get drunk now. See you later Sam." I said and ended the call. Her permanent nights out and new guys almost every day are more than annoying, especially when it's almost the only thing she talks about. Sometimes I really wonder why she's my best friend.

I woke up with the most terrible mood the next morning. I barely slept all night and my head was feeling like it's going to explode any second now. My stomach was growling so loud it could wake our neighbors. Yawning, I stumbled out of bed and walked to the bathroom. I took a hot, long shower before I put on my black skinny jeans and an oversized sweater before I trotted downstairs to the kitchen to quietly prepare myself some breakfast. Hopefully my mom was already out of the house, after what happened yesterday I wasn't really keen to talk to her. I would only get mad again.
I stuffed some toast in my mouth, packed my school bag and ran out of the house, making my way towards the school. The only thing I was really looking forward to was meeting Luke tonight. Surely this would light up my mood a little.
"Hey Ana!" I heard Michael's voice as soon as I stepped a foot into the school building. "Hey Mikey." I said and tried to fake smile. "Are you okay? You seem pissed." He noticed and embraced me in a hug. "It's my mom. She met a new guy. Seems like it's serious." I groaned. "Have you meet him yet?" He asked concerned. I shook my head no. "She wants to invite him for dinner next week. Guess I'm gonna meet him then. Yay me." I said and rolled my eyes. "Don't be so negative about this. Maybe he really is a nice guy. See how everything goes at this dinner. I could join you guys, it surely won't be that bad then." He grinned and poked my cheek. "Don't be so cocky Clifford." I chuckled. "But I think it's actually a good idea if you'd come. But only if you don't mind."
Michael shook his head and a smile spread over his face. "I wouldn't offer it if I wouldn't mean it." He said. "Thank you. You're a life saver." I giggled. "I know I am." He giggled and pulled his phone out of his pocket. "Hmpf." He frowned. "Seems like Calum isn't coming today."
"Why not?" I asked and sat down on my chair in the classroom. "He has some kind of big game this weekend and his coach talked to our teachers, apparently the whole team doesn't have to go to school today. They have to practice." He explained. "It's only us today then."
"Isn't Sam coming either?" Michael asked confused. "Nope. She called me in a drunken state last night, telling me she's at a party and that she's not coming today." I shrugged. "Well that's typical. She actually send me a picture of her and some blonde curly haired dude last night." He mumbled. "Oh well I don't really care to be honest."
"What happened to 'we know everything about each other and we will never go separate ways again.'" Michael laughed. "That was a long time ago. I don't think our friendship will last much longer." I sighed. "We're just too different now and sometimes she's really annoying me. I don't even want to talk to her anymore. The only thing she talks about are her hook ups and the next party she going to attend. It's terribly annoying." Michael nodded and agreed. "I'm gonna be your new best friend. We can have movie nights and intimidate talks while we braid each other's hair and paint our nails." I raised my eyebrows and I couldn't help but laugh. "Why am I even friends with you?" I asked and face palmed myself. "Because I'm awesome."'
I didn't hang out with Michael alone in ages and I have to admit, I really missed it. Even though we're at school we were having a lot of fun. My mood lightened up even more when Luke came in the room. I couldn't avert my eyes from him and I was enchanted by his soft voice. Every once in a while he looked over to me and smiled that beautiful smile of his and a tingly feeling rushed through my entire body. I couldn't wait to be alone with him later. When the class was over I took my sweet time to pack my bag to have a quick talk with Luke. I told Michael I need to ask Luke something about the homework so he would already go to the cafeteria.
"I can't wait to be alone with you later." I whispered. Luke bit his lip and nodded. "Me neither. I already got everything for the dinner I'm gonna cook for you." He proudly smiled. "What are we having?" I asked excitedly. "It's going to be a surprise." He grinned. "Anyway, I have to run. See you later." He quickly kissed my cheek before he rushed out of the classroom.

After school was over I didn't want to go home to face my mother sonMichael and I walked to the mall together and had a frozen yoghurt together.
"We should do this more often." I yelled out of the changing room. I convinced Michael to shop with me for a new dress. I wanted something new for tonight. "Right? We didn't hang out alone in ages. I really enjoy this!" I zipped up the dress and stepped out of the changing room. "What do you think?" I asked unsure. Michael nodded, "You look incredible Ana!" He bursted out. I was wearing a knee length, dark red, strapless dress which showed my curves and cleavage perfectly but not too much. It still looked classy. "You should definitely take it!"
"I will. It's so pretty." I mumbled and inspected myself in the big ass mirror on the wall across of me.
I quickly changed back and payed the dress before Michael and I left the mall again. It was past four when I arrived home and to my luck my mother wasn't home. I hurried upstairs, freshened up and changed into my new dress and black heels before I left the house again.
A few minutes before six I arrived at Luke's. With a heavily pounding heart I rang the doorbell and impatiently waited for Luke to open the door. He didn't let me wait a long time, not even a minute later he opened the door for me.
"Wow, you look....stunning." He said and scanned my whole body. "You look really handsome yourself Lucas." I chuckled and slung my arms around his neck. He was wearing dark skinny jeans and a white button up shirt and his hair was wild, tousled in every direction. "Don't call me Lucas." He warned and brushed his lips against mine. "What if I do?" I challenged him and bit my lip. "I don't think I can tell you just yet." He smirked.
I raised my eyebrow, "Why not?" Luke pressed me close to his body. "Because it's something you don't necessarily talk about on the first official date." He chuckled and finally connected our lips.
"Fine...." I said after I broke the kiss. "...Lucas."
