"What do you mean I'm bethroated?" Baekhyun asked in his surprise.
The whole family went silent to this question. "Mom, what is happening?" He eyed on his mother while asking. "You're getting married. That's final." His grandmother told him. Baekhyun sat down feeling annoyed with the situation. "Grandma, didn't I say that I want to become an famous international singer in the future?" He asked the old lady trying to change her mind. "Well you can still do that even if you're married, right?" She asked her grandson. " Baekhyun stood up and approached his grandmother for a hug. "But grandma, your grandson might be too handsome for that girl." He told his grandmother. "Don't worry, she's very beautiful. We saw her a while ago." She told her grandson. "She.. Was.. Here?" He asked in pauses. The old lady nodded. "And we're going to Seoul with you tomorrow to meet her." She told her grandson.
Baekhyun had no capabilities to stop her grandmother. With respect, he didn't complain any longer. For now, it was not a big deal. Just how his personality shows, everything else is a joke. He slept without worry, he slept without disturbance.
You and your mom finally arrived your house in Seoul. You entered as your mother switched on the light. "We'll be staying in this house." She told you. You examined the corners of the interior as you walked towards the couch. "And this will be your house." She said. "Soon, you'll move in here with your husband." Your mother continued.
Without really caring, you ignored what she said. "I'm going up. I want to sleep and have a rest." You told your mother. Before she can even protest, you took your steps up the stairs. The sound of your heels filled the house. You opened a door and entered the dark room. You switched the light on and and walked towards the large bed. You sat down on its edge and took a deep breath. It's not that you oppose this but it's not as if you agree to it, too. It's just that you know how this kind of thing goes and you know how it ends. Being drowned in your own thoughts, you didn't notice that your mother went inside your room.
"I thought you're tired. Why aren't you sleeping yet?" She asked. You came back to earth as soon as you heard your mother's voice. You shook your head slightly. "No, it's nothing." You lied. "I know you. Don't confine yourself too much." She said as she approached you slowly and sat down beside you. "You know, i admire you a lot. You've been strong all these years and I, as your mother, feels stupid for not being as strong as you." Her voice started to crack and tears started to build up in your eyes. She hugged you with her might. "Just this one last favor, this is the last. If you get through this, I swear it'll be over." You held her back weakly as she pulled out of the hug and kissed your forehead. "Sleep now, ok? Tomorrow will be long." She said as she exited your room. You obeyed and slept to escape your worries.
Morning had come and the sun shone in your room waking you up. At night, it is totally dark. But in the morning, it's too bright. You took your time in grooming yourself before going down for breakfast. You headed the dining area and found maids serving plates of dishes to your mother. "Oh good morning dear! How was sleep?" She asked. "It's fine, I guess? The room is too bright it disturbed my sleep." You said as you pulled out a chair and sat beside your mother. Maids started to serve you, too.
"Say, how about we go out and stroll downtown?" You mom offered while you were slicing your steak. You stopped and looked at her who's taking a sip of her orange juice while looking at you. "Sure." You smiled at her. "Good, it'll keep us busy until you'll finally meet Baekhyun." She said and continued eating.
Like how you agreed to your mother, the both of you toured Seoul. You were actually happy that this happened. To you, it's actually a mother and daughter bonding. It's been a long time since you had some quality time with her. You went to various kinds of shops. After shopping in different stores, your mother got tired. "Should we go to lotte world?" She asked. "Can you still manage to stroll?" You asked back. She laughed at your question. "I am not that old, Kendra. Don't underestimate your mother." She said as you smirked in disagreement. "Take us to lotte world." Your mother ordered the driver.
You and your mom arrived in lotte world. "What is this? A replica of disneyland?" You asked in ignorance. "You wouldn't know unless you get inside, right?" She asked as she entered and you followed afterwards. You lost track of time as you enjoyed the place. You also saw a very familiar face, a standee and posters if Baekhyun. You stood infront of it and examined his face. "He's not that bad." You murmured to yourself.
"Kendra, it's time. We have to go." Your mother distracted you from staring at Baekhyun's poster. You walked away from it and left lotte world. You rode the car with your mom. The ride was silent the entire time. Your mom held your hand. "Don't worry, I'll be beside you. There's no reason for you to be nervous." She said trying to motivate you. The car stopped and you're still nervous. "Let's go. They are already inside." Your mom said and the both of you entered the restaurant hand in hand.
An man ushered you to a table where familiar faces were- the Byun Family. They definitely are very simple. The family comprises of good genes. You and your mother sat down beside each other. "Baekhyun." His grandmother called him out. "Baekhyun." She called out his grandson again whose hearing only music via headphones. His mother pulled it off his ear gaining his attention. "I'm really sorry about his actions. He's still young." His grandmother apologized to you and your mother. Just before your mom can say anything, you spoke. "It's actually good that he's not showing any interest at all." You said and Baekhyun looked at you. You looked at him and your eyes locked. "All the easier, right?" You said without breaking the eye contact.
With the tension-filled atmosphere, your mother thought of a way to ease it a little bit. "Why don't we order something to eat? Waiter!" Your mother raised her hand and a waiter approached your table. Everyone else ordered except for you so your mother ordered something for you. Seeing his family eat made you somehow jealous. It was awkward because the had less table manners than you have but they ate in warmth and joy. "So, now that we've met, what's next?" You asked straightforwardly. "Kendra, stop. You're being rude." Your mother whispered. "We're actually here to plan your weeding." His grandmother said making Baekhyun surprised. He stood up. "Woah! Grandma, slow down. What is the meaning of this?" He asked slightly shouting. "Baekhyun sit down." His grandmother commanded. "No." He refused. "This is not right. This is not right." He said as he stomped his way out of the restaurant.
You wiped your mouth with a table napkin. "I'm really sorry about my grandson's actions." His grandmother said. You threw the napkin in your plate with less force. "I think there's nothing left to talk about. Excuse me." You said as you stood up and exited the restaurant leaving your mother and the Byun family. "I'm sorry about my daughter's actions. She's not normally that cold." Your mother apologized in your behalf. "No, not at all. I think Baekhyun's actions provoked her to be like that." His mother said. "Even so, the wedding will push through. I think it would be best if we plan it by ourselves without the kids. It would be easier." His grandma said and your mother agreed. They spent the night planning and organizing your wedding.
The guard opened the door as he saw you approaching. You got out of the restaurant and waited for your car. Suddenly, Baekhyun approached you. "You're pretty." He said gaining your attention. You looked at him with an eyebrow raised. "We didn't get to meet properly. I'm Baekhyun." He said as he hand out his hand for a shake. You just looked at his hand and returned your eyes on his face. He slowly put his hand down, feeling embarrassed on how you rejected his welcome. "Come on. A name wouldn't be that bad." He said. You looked at him again. "Kendra." You said. "Kendra. What a pretty name." He said. Your ride finally came. It stopped right infront of you. The chauffeur opened the door for you and you entered with Baekhyun watching you. "You can go home now." You said. He smiled to your sweet tone. The car drove off with him still standing. He threw his hand at the back his head still smiling as he took a step backwards before he turned to take a walk to their dorm.
