*Saturday, September 12th, 1998*

I wake up to the smell of pancakes. Instantly I know it's my birthday,  because dad never makes pancakes, unless it's someone's birthday. Today was finally the day I turned 5! I was so excited, and couldn't wait till we left for Dublin later today to visit family.

I quickly went to get dressed, dressing myself in a pink sundress with a pair of black cut-off leggings. I also put a barrette  into my hair to keep my bangs from falling onto my face.

Mum says I'm allowed to dress myself for my birthday, because it's my day, and I'm allowed to express myself.

I quickly finish getting ready and race downstairs immediately. I run in the kitchen and almost into dad. He jumped in fear of my quick appearance.

"Really Arielle, why so excited," he smiled while recovering from me scaring him.

"Dad you know why," I smiled while sitting down.

"Nope, don't recall." He sarcastically laughs.

"Dad!" I shout.

"Oh isn't it your birthday?" He laughs while handing my a plate full of pancakes. "Happy birthday princess."

"Thank you dad," I smile.

I eat the pancakes in no time, and I'm practically bouncing off my seat from all of this excitement.

Mum makes her way down the stairs about 5 minutes after I'm done eating. She grabs a plate as well, and eat with dad. They talk about adult things, while I sit and watch an episode of "Tom & Jerry".

I couldn't wait till later today I was excited to visit grandma and grandpa along with Claire, even though we didn't always get along. And hopefully we could visit our old house. Even though it's only been a few weeks I miss the old house.

"Arielle could you get that," my dad shouted from the kitchen.

I gazed out of my daydream and back into reality of someone knocking at the door.

I quickly jumped up and ran to the door excited to see who it was. I opened the door to find small boy my age and my height staring at me.

"Hey Niall," I smiled.

He was alone and that was weird, cause he's never came over here before by himself. He must have looked extra carefully when he crossed the street.

"Hey Arielle," he smiled back.

"What's up?" I asked not knowing why he was here.

"Oh well I was just wondering if you wanted to come over and play some football," he said while his eyes moved up and down my body. "But telling by your dress and nice clothes, you can't?"

"Yea sorry," I frowned.

"It's okay." He smiled. "We could just do it a different day."

I nodded and smiled.

"Why you so dressed up anyways?" He asked.

"Cause I'm going back to Dublin go see family," I smiled still super excited for that.

"Oh," he plainly said.

"What?" I asked confused.

"Your leaving?"

"Not forever, just for the day cause its my birthday, September 12th, today." I smiled.

His face lite up and his smile grew across his face.

"Really?"

"Yes!" I laughed.

"Mines tomorrow!" He shouted.

I was shocked that his and my birthdays were right next to each other. That's weird. But exciting cause I'll always remember his birthday now.

"Woah! No way, so your turning 5 tomorrow? " I asked.

"Yup," he laughed.

"Well then, I'll be over tomorrow to play football with you for your brithday," I smiled.

"Okay," he smiled. "Happy Birthday." He smiled while backing away.

"Thank you, I guess I'll be saying that to you tomorrow," I laughed.

"Bye Arielle." He waved while turning and walking back to his house.

"Bye Niall." I waved back.

I watched him walk across the street and back to his house. I then went back into my hosue closing the door and walking into the kitchen.

"Who was that darling," my mum asked?

"It was Niall. He said happy birthday." I smiled.

"Oh that's very nice," my mum said.

"Yes and tomorrow can I go over to Niall's house?" I asked. "Cause tomorrow is his birthday."

"Oh for sure." My mum said. "That's very cool that's your birthdays are that close."

I nodded and went back into the living room. I was now even more excited. Today I get to visit my family and friends, and tomorrow I get to go over to Niall's house and play with him on his birthday. I was shocked that our birthdays were right next to each other. I guess I'm a day older than him though, so if we stay friends I can tease him that I'm older. And at least I'll never forget his birthday.
