A/N: this is very long over due, but things happened that kept me from updating. One of the biggest is obviously the pandemic and the fact that I am a nurse. So I had very little time to write despite wanting to get back into it. No this update is a bit short, (i think) But i'm hoping to get updates out again so hopefully it won't be the last.
It had been a week since Liam's dad had flipped out on Theo. Melissa had seen Todd at work but he had avoided her. Liam hadn't been back to the house but Karen kept sending clothes for him. Checking in on him as much as she can. Theo and Liam continued to go to school and work to prepare for the baby.
The pack had a meeting the day after Liam had moved in with Scott. They were told of the situation. It was considered another plan to get close to the pack but Scott squashed that idea. He didn't call Theo pack but he agreed that Theo wasn't plotting. It took some convincing but seeing the way Theo stood in front of Liam to protect him and opened himself to any and all threats of harm sold them on it. They all offered support.
Liam was having his check up with Deaton and Melissa. Theo stood next to him, as protective as ever. He didn't let Liam go anywhere unless he was with him. To the doctor wasn't any different.
Liam laid back on the table and lifted his shirt, hissing when the cold gel hit his skin. Deaton moved the wand around and looked for the baby. When he located the baby he messed with some buttons and the picture cleared up and focused. Soon the baby's heartbeat could be heard. Theo knew it very well. He listened to it every chance he got, especially before he went to sleep.
"Ms. McCall said that there is a chance I could have more than one? Can we tell that now or is it too soon." Liam asked.
Before Deaton could say anything Theo spoke up, "It's three, Liam." Liam quickly looked at Theo then to Deaton and Melissa. They were both looking at Theo with questioning looks.
"When it's just Liam and I, I can always hear five heartbeats. Two are obviously mine and his which means he's carrying triplets. And after a week of constantly listening I can make out each one." Theo kept his eyes trained on Liam's face.
"Are you sure Theo?" Liam's heart picked up as he thought about carrying, birthing, and raising three babies.
"I'm positive, Liam, unless you have extra hearts. But we can handle this, I know we can." He took Liam's hand and gave it a light squeeze.
"Theo's right. We can handle this and the pack will be there for you." Melissa smiled at him. Liam was quiet the rest of his check up.
When they got into Theo's truck to head home Liam tried focusing his hearing to pick up the heartbeats. Theo was a pro at it and could zero in without effort. Liam really had to try to find them but once he did... He started crying.
Theo pulled over and turned to Liam. "What's wrong Liam?" He searched the beta for any sign of distress or harm.
"I-I can hear their h-hearts." Liam knew it was dumb, he had seen the ultrasound and heard the heartbeat through it, he knew they were real. They were growing inside him. But this, actually hearing the heartbeat without a weird machine warbling sound, it made it more real somehow. He was pregnant, he was gonna be a dad.
"It was scary for me too; when I first heard the heartbeat. Made it so much more real, realer than anything else that could have been given as proof." Theo said quietly. Liam nodded feeling less dumb after what Theo said. At least his reaction was valid. "They're in there, they were created by us. I'm so happy they exist and I can't wait to meet them." Theo smiled and placed his hand on Liam's stomach, rubbing it softly with his thumb.
