I looked around trying to find someone to talk to.
The bar was relatively crowded and I found a guy sitting alone, he looked completely immersed in his phone.
What happened to good old human interaction?
I gulped down my drink and told Dylan that I would be right back.
With confidence, I strutted towards the man or at least I thought I did, it was hard to walk and the buckets of sweat underneath the suit didn't help the situation.
I slid myself smoothly into the seat opposite to him and said hi.
He looked up puzzled and confused.
"I'm sorry do I know you?" He questioned.
"No but you can get to know me..." I regretted saying those words as soon as they left my mouth, I was as lame as those idiots who dm girls on Instagram.
So I decided to go with plan 2.0 :pick up lines from Google.
Here goes ...
"Well, here I am. What are your other two dishes?"
Wait! that doesn't sound right?
It was something else wasn't it?
Dishes..... s
dishes.... dishes.......I held my finger up and told him to wait a second before he decided to say something to ruin my flow.
Got it!!!.
"I meant wishes! Not dishes ! Here I am what are your other two wishes?" I said happily, finally feeling victorious at having done a pick up line right.
Someone tapped my shoulder and it was a young woman who didn't seem to have an all too pleased look on her face.
"Honey, do you know this woman?" She asked the man that I had pathetically tried to flirt with and looked back at me accusingly.
Oh carp, I had messed up real bad this time !!! This night was a mess
Now that I looked closely he had a wedding ring on his finger
I should have thought this through *sigh"I have absolutely no idea who this fat woman is, babe" he looked at me with disgust and turned to his wife with innocent eyes.
I immediately got up and profusely apologized to his wife and explained to her that I had thought that he was unmarried and that hadn't seemed to go down with her too well for in 10 seconds she was storming out clutching her husband's wrist tightly, anymore tighter and it might just snap in half.
I looked back at Dylan and he had tears in his eyes, I walked back to my seat concerned that he felt sad for me as soon as I asked him why he was crying, he burst out laughing.
For the next 5 minutes, I just stared at him while he had the time of his life laughing his head off.
"You should have seen your face when she called him honey, you looked like you had your soul run away from embarrassment "
"Whatever, I hadn't seen his wedding ring it wasn't my fault " I shrugged trying to play it off as a rookie mistake when it was all but my fault.
"Don't even get me started on the pick up line .. who told you that was a good idea?"
"I obviously googled it !" I said annoyed with myself for being so naive.
I should have used youtube ...
"Just ask me the next time your in need of flirting skills" he assured whilst he booped my nose, oh so casually.
"Don't you think you are being a little to o handsy today?" I narrowed my eyes as I looked at him.
"It's your fault for being so adorable, now go out there and make papi proud, oh and this time try to talk like a normal person!"he chuckled and gave me a slight push in order to shoo me away.
"Fine!" I asserted and exhaled in an attempt to calm myself and forget the embarrassment, I had just gone through.
I scanned the bar once again to scourge for my new prey and Voila!
My second attempt was even more miserable than the first one, as soon as I sat down the guy excused himself to go to the bathroom and 10 minutes later, I had understood that he had escaped.
First guy was married and the second one escaped through the bathroom....
Kill me now!
My search for true love was going so good that I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up single even at 80!I looked around to find Dylan but to no avail. I was tired and wanted to go home. The amount of humiliation for the day had been enough.
Until Dylan comes back I decided to give it another shot.
In all the old men it didn't take me long to find my third guy for the night.
There was a man in a black hoodie who was staring at his beer like he despised it.
Wonder how he'll escape?
I walked up to his table and asked if I could take a seat.
He looked like he was depressed and had a melancholic aura to him
I wasn't wrong because he walked out and didn't even look at me once.
That is hands down plain RUDE!
Tired lonely and frustrated I looked to the ground in exasperation and that's when I noticed a phone under the table.
I picked it up and the phone was switched off so I turned it on and the wallpaper was a picture of that gloomy guy kissing a really pretty girl on the cheek.
Great I had once again tried to talk to a guy who was already in a relationship!
Without thinking I ran out the bar to find him and return his phone, I looked around for 5 minutes when a figure was sitting in a bench at the park beside the bar.
The figure was wearing a hoodie!
Normally trying to go talk to a shady figure at a park would be reckless but I just had a strong feeling that it was the same guy.
I walked up to the bench and there weren't any lights illuminated nearby, I tried to squint from a distance to get a good look at his face but it was too dark .
I had only one option left
It could lead me to either get killed, robbed or kidnapped but I figured it was still worth the slim chance.Because clearly my brain wasn't working!
I turned on the flashlight in my phone and I breathed a huge sigh of relief, it was the same guy.
How do I know that he's not evil and all of this was not just a huge ploy to get me alone and then steal all my organs and leave my body to bleed to death?!??!?
My fight or flight responses kicked in and I moved back a few feet to give me a good head start.
He finally looked up and all I saw was an ocean of blue.
Ocean eyes the ones that Billie Eilish sings about...
