Ah, the first day of school for the year. A horrible time, really, for most. But for me, its the beginning of a new year full of drama, juicy gossip........and new editions of the school paper, which i happily am a journalist for. I basically write about all the new and upcoming stuff around the school. My dark partner writes an anonymous advice column. Although he'd never admit it out loud. No way, that would 'make him look soft'. And chaos, the world would end if people knew the great and mysterious shadow the hedgehog gave love advice for the school paper. I think it'd make him more popular with people. And less people would run away from him in the halls. Oh right. By the way, i'm Rouge. Rouge the bat. Quite possibly the best person you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting. Once i'm famous i might mention you in my biography. Anyway, i should probably explain where i am right now. Currently, i'm in maths. Thats me at the very back there. That beautiful, stunning white bat. Yes, yes, i know. Don't drool too much. Anyway, as i don't pay any attention to the teacher and file my nails, i can't help but over hear the people in front of me talking.
"Did you hear about the sports department?"
"Yeah! I heard they're having tryouts across the board! Why? Did you wanna try out for something?"
"Uh, actually, yeah! I was thinking of maybe trying out for the cheerleading squad......"
Huh. Typical. Cheerleading. Ugh, what a drag. I can't imagine being a cheerleader. I used to be one, actually, so, technically, i can. But i hated it. Every guy in the world trying to get in your panties just because you're wearing a short skirt. How annoying. Also that much activity and hype has GOT to bring you down. But hey, maybe i should check out these tryouts. Who knows what i might find? Sure, i hate the sports department and their stupid captains, i mean, its they're fault P.E is mandatory, but it is entertaining watching people try so hard to impress them. Twenty people got injured last year. That was just for the volleyball tryouts. The sports department is one of the biggest departments at this school, yet so many people suck at it. But the people who are good at it, are good at it so i guess those few make up for it. Also the guys who are in that department are insanely well built and, frankly, i'd like to bang every one of em'. Hey, maybe we could have a gangb-
"Rouge? would you like to give us the answer? Since you so obviously don't feel the need to be listening, you MUST know the answer, right?"
Shit. Of course, only today does the teacher actually notice i'm not paying attention. Well, better bring on my charm for this one.......

Okay, so my charm didn't work and i ended up having to stay after class, but hey, i can learn from my mistakes, right? Eh, probably not. After i finally managed to get outta class, (i didn't stay the full amount of time i was supposed to, i ended up jumping out a window when the teacher wasn't looking. (Thank you wings) i found shadow waiting for me at my locker. He gave an annoyed huff as i approached. Yeah, he was sweet like that.
"Well, i'm glad to know you care enough now to wait for me." Yeah, before this year, he would literally just ditch me all the time for god knows what. Like jeez, chivalry really is dead isn't it? He watched me put my stuff into my locker and grab my camera and gossip book. Yeah, i have a gossip book. No not a diary. Gossip book.
"I'm assuming we're going to the tryouts?" Shadow grumbled lowly and pulled a disgusted face.
"Yep." I popped the 'p'. "C'mon, despite their cheerfulness, y'gotta admit they're nice people. And they've been trying to recruit you for years now." Shadow smirked as we headed to the sports field.
"I don't join clubs or teams. Especially if that green rat is there. His entire existence is annoying."
"Yeah but he's cute. Same with knucklehead." All the guys in the sports department were overly cute, like i said before. But shadow hates them. Except for this one girl. Except i hate her. So basically we hate everyone anyway. Ah, jeez, finally we made it to the sports field. God i wish everything at this school wasn't so spread apart. We opened the glass doors and pushed through the crowd of stupid people to get a better view. I whacked a nearby kid with my pen to get his attention.
"Ow! Hey, what was that for?" He glared at me angrily. Two can play at that game, bitch.
"What event are they trying out for?"
"Why should i tell you?" Cue shadow grabbing kid by his collar and growling.
"Because she asked you a question." I loved whenever he did that. The look on people's faces is always priceless.
"Th-they're having tryouts for the ch-cheerleading squad." Shadow dropped the kid and he practically ran away crying. I groaned in disgust when i saw HER. Amy Rose. That girl shadow doesn't hate completely. Shes a gross bright shade of pink and shes overly happy and peppy. God just looking at her makes me wanna throw up. Most of the population loves her, except for a select few. Me being one of them. Anyway, i think they're making them do a pyramid. But they're missing someone and are looking for volunteers. Pfft what losers. how could you mess something like this up? All of a sudden i feel someone grabbing my arm. I look up, about to punch some pervert boy in the face but i see something much, much, worse. The beaming face of a cheerleader.
